Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A hard reset clears the history available for display on the unit but all the TCX files should still be in the history folder.

Well, since few have mentioned the problem with 2.8 for those with power meters, it registers massive spikes in watts when starting again from a complete stop. Why can't Quark release a computer?

I would think they have to release the rest of their spiders first...

What PM's are team Garmin using?

I have a PT and am not seeing the startup spikes. I do on occasion have massive mid ride spikes. I can see these in the TCX file. When it happens the Edge will not show max power anymore.

I think I'm staying with 2.6 until the powertap problems get sorted out.

And, today, i also noticed that the cadence readings give massive spikes as well! An avg cadence of 230 rpm? I don't think so.

God I am starting to hate this computer.

Has everyone that updated to 2.8 re-scanned for additional updates. There have been chipset updates that you only get after you run the firmware check. These may help with some of the other issues that folks have.

I'll try that. If not, I am just going to stick with 2.6 until I see LOTS of glowing reports of whatever firmware update Garmin finally gets right.

I'm still on 2.7. I see 2.8 as more of a "fix" than added features. And my unit ain't broken, so I'm not fixing it.

2.8 is working fine for me.

2.7 corrupted the FAT filesystem on the internal "drive". Oddly, it didn't affect how the unit functioned (no corrupted data files) but that was probably just a matter of time.

And you don't have a powermeter, right?

I have a Quarq and upgraded to 2.8 last week. I haven't seen any of the issues that you guys are talking about. It has been working great for me, including sprint workouts!
