As a relative newb, can somebody please explain to me BF's fascination with CAAD9s?
They're nice bikes and all, but they seem to be way over represented on BF compared to the bike brands I see on the road here in Florida, or represented in any of the races or group rides etc. that I've done in other areas I've lived, such as Colo. Maybe it's a geographic thing. |

I'll bite.
It's got the exact same geometry as the top of the line C'Dale frames. Aluminum is stiff and responsive and costs a fraction of what carbon does, thus making easily replaceable if/when you crash. Hard to find a better bang for the buck. Perfect for racers on a budget. Good enough for any level of racing, etc. |
still costs quite a bit considering it's all aluminum with a carbon fork.

but don't criticize others on a topic in which you have no experience. it makes you look a fool. |

Uh, that's for a frameset...you can get the CAAD9-5 fully built for 1200-1300. Just sayin'
(...because it was said that the CAAD9 cost is "still quite a bit.") |

Here's my sweetie. Built from scratch w/ Ultegra, Dura-ace 7850 CL wheels, FSA cockpit and seatpost, King ti cages, and speedplays.
I wanted to build it w/ Red, but at the last minute I decided it was foolish to spend the money. I was lucky enough to have bought all the componets from the UK before the shimano price increase, so you are looking at about a $2400 build. http://devdel.smugmug.com/photos/510...YuVbv-XL-1.jpg |
^^^ Very nice.
