Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I am ready to see a battle between Armstrong and Conty. Kind of like the T-Mobile split with Veno and Ullrich??? Just saying maybe that would be fun to see.

By the way take a look at page 62 of Velonews...

Is it just me, or does he look a little leaner compared to the Giro?

I think he is. They've been saying he's a few kg lighter now than he was in any of his Tour victories.

Gee, I wish there was a place where we could discuss all things TdF, and not have to deal with all the dreck and drivel that is non-professional road cycling. You'd think that the folks at IB would have recognized the need for such a place, and created a forum just for those discussions. There, we could focus strictly on professional cycling.

They seem like pretty bright people, and quite internet smart and all that, but I wonder what happened? Perhaps we could petition them or something, to create a part of this great bicycling website just for that. What do you all think?

Not a bad show for a guy who hasn't ridden on this level in 4 years. Only 18 seconds behind Contador. Top 10. You have to wonder how much of his time deficit might be just being off the TT bike for several years, it did look as if Lance lost a bit of time on the technical turns in the last 6-7 km. Contador looked smoother on the TT bike going down hill.

Lance is right there.

If by "right there" you mean 20 seconds back on the overall favorite after day 1 then you are correct.

Much like Lance, if Trek were to offer me that bike free I would ride it around Monaco too. If fact, I'd even take an off-the-rack model

Trek, are you listening? If so PM me.

Forums for Professional Cycling and Racing sound like brilliant ideas.
