If they altered the marketing tactics (which aren't nearly the slimiest in the world, btw), people would be less likely to condemn BD. But the marketing is a double edge sword. While they foster a controversial reputation, they are still highly effective sales tactics, as BD Mike has pointed out many, many times. This should be obvious to all. We aren't covering any new ground here, people.

The stubborn ignorance of the fanbois is even more unbelievable and the desperate need to defend their purchase (when it isn't even being attacked) is pathetic.

I rode my Fly Ti with Sam in the woods tonight. Man, that bike friggin rocks. But Sam rocks harder. I ride, he runs. That doggie runs like a champ. He's the Best Doggie Ever.
Now if I can only teach him not to run right in front of the MTB causing me to bounce off him @ 18 mph when we're going down little grades, I'll have something. But we haven't crashed yet.

BTW, it's not lost on us those of you who refuse to answer Rich's question about whether or not you have been compensated in any way.

My compensation from BD for all my shilling to date amounts to one extra derailleur $10 hanger. But I'm pretty sure they just packed an extra one by mistake when they shipped it. So I don't think they were really trying to pay me.
But I like to think maybe they were.

Personally, I don't care about the (mis)representations on their website. That seems like business as usual. But the fake shill posts are just downright offensive.

I'm not sure if I'm counted as one of the 5 people that post positive reviews in any BD thread, but I do tend to post something positive in every negative BD or Motobecane thread that I see.
Why? Because I've been very pleased with my purchase, and I think the detractors are unfair. It seems that most of the people that post negatively about BD have never even purchased anything from them, while positive posters are actual customers.
I don't think I've ever been asked whether I've received any compensation from BD, but I will state that I haven't received any.

Duh. Who's going to purchase something from a company he believes uses dishonest marketing?

You're not one of them.
Glad you're happy with your purchase. I own a Windsor Hour that I am happy with too.
I HATE the shilling though. I do admit it has become much more subtle. Perhaps those of us that are very vocal about it have kicked ourselves in the arse a bit by giving BD marketing feedback on what does and does not work.

Not sure if I "count" but I answered the question, I have received nothing from them. Seems like the same people bash them in almost every thread. I just had a good experience but they aren't the only company making and marketing bikes. My last bike was a Lemond and my next will likely not be a BD bike, unless they come out with a nice light cross bike....
