Bikes: I've lost count.

It's a nice goal to have. I think I'll start from next year as it is too late for this year.

I know this is all light-hearted banter but my first thought is (take into account that I'm a novice, the most I've every ridden in a day is 45 miles) that is would be more realistic to ride the 100 miles at 50 years old and work down (a mile a year) to 50 miles at 100 years old. In doing it this way you acknowledge/accept that age does affect performance but doing the 50 miles at age 100 would still be quite an accomplishment.

Have a happy one. I told my wife a few days ago that starting with my 40th, I would do 10 kilometer for every year. We'll see how that works.

One year down. 51 at 51. Nothing special, just a 40 minute tempo interval, and then finishing out the 51 miles.

I wondered about how long I could keep this up. Imagine living to 100 and doing a century on your 100th birthday! If there were to happen, I would be in better shape than I am now. The furthest I have riden so far is 65 miles. 65 wasn't too bad, but 100 miles is a different story. I hope to do my first century by this time next year.

Happy Birthday! This idea would be pretty cool for a while but I could see it would get really hard when I get older , good luck to you! As for me, I think I could handle 19 miles...for now.

Happy Birthday, it's not to bad until you hit 55, then it's just down hill from there. Rode 65 miles on my birthday this year for my first Birthday ride. Hope to be doing this until at least to the mid eighties(2030!Yikes!). Ride safe, ride far.

Happy Birthday. I started a similar idea with running my age on my b'days. Started back in 1979--turned 36 ran 36 miles. Did that up until I was 42. Switched to kilometers thru my 40's and 50's. Into my 60's I started the decimal system. At age 61 ran 6.1 miles. Back on the bike so I will ride my age next b'day(67) and hopefully will keep running. At 71,400+ miles run--I see no reason to stop. Nick
