I was quoted at $1400 at one LBS and $1350 from two others for the caad 9 5. I don't understand why you guys get them for cheaper but it doesn't seem right!

caad9-6 $900. thanks to the greatest shop in the universe.https://pistapalace.com/
Pista Palace. Looks like a nice shop. Tell me either this is a really small bike or these are really tall and big girls

Bike ≠ Car ≠ Ped.
They'll be the same apart from having a BB30 bottom bracket option. Not sure if those will be just team issue frames or available through normal retail.

FWIW, I got my CAAD8 Optimo 1, mostly equivalent to today's 9-5, for about 12-1300 nearly two years ago.

i paid $930 for my CAAD9-7...
$1000 for a CAAD9-5 is a crazy deal if you ask me... i wanted the 9-5 but couldn't justify spending the extra $400...

I'm looking into buying this bike. Good to see what prices are looking like around.
In Western Oregon (College town that's not Eugene) you'll pay $1000*. And no sales tax!
*If you could, that is. According to the LBS the 2009 supply may well be toast.

For which model? If it's cheaper than in Eugene or Portland I'll just get mine in Corvallis...

In March of this year I paid $ 1399 for my '09 CAAD 9 5 at the LBS in the suburbs of Phila. that has a very good reputation and always has customers when I go there. They also have a lot of very expensive bikes in stock.
I went in knowing what I wanted and the guy I dealt with could see that right away. So maybe I could have tried to get a better price but I like using local shops. I also found about only 2 other local CAAD dealers and one of them was REI.
This LBS also lets you set up appointments for bike repairs unless it's something they can fix quickly. They feel there is no need for your bike to be sitting in their shop if they are not working on it.
I had considered Trek, Specialized and even Bikes Direct before I decided on the CAAD. I also did not want to be thinking about upgrading to 105 if I had gone with a less expensive Shimano set-up.

So are all CAAD 9 frames exactly the same, with the numbers after representing the quality of the components only? If I do wind up with a CAAD9, I'd be buying the frame only.

Yes. Caad9 is the frame. The -5, 6, 7 is the designation that explains the other components. The frame is exactly the same, just the components are different. I'd not recommend the lower end models (7,6) to people that are planning on riding 150+ miles a week, because you will want to upgrade those components yourself. Unless, of course, you ride just as much to ride as to tweak your FD and cable tension after every 50 miles.

In that case, buy the model where you think you're get the lowest frame price after selling off the components.
(And yes, all the frames are the same)

Not according to their website. I think the higher-end 2010 models may have a better fork, though.
The 2009 models apparently have slight improvements to the frame, but they don't come in bare finishes anymore, which is a shame.

I was told by two C'dale dealers that the 2010 models will not be made in the USA. Either way I got my 09' Caad9-5 in white and I'm diggin it! I have no desire to go carbon, the Caad9 frame is plenty light for me and transmit power great and no worries about frame breaking/cracking like the carbon guys do! I paid $1400 OTD.
