Fizik Arione CX Carbon Question

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Crash, something's not adding up. The CX's with a carbon shell have a stripe down the middle on top, and the ones with the nylon shell are one solid piece. The best way to tell is whether it has the "ICS" mount. If doesn't have the removable tab then it's a carbon shell.

Does yours looks like

or like this

As far as I can tell there are three cx ariones.

1)cx kium-metal rails, nylon shell.

2)cx braided-braided carbon rails, nylon shell.

3)cx carbon-braided carbon rails, carbon/kevlar shell.

I have #2 and there is no cutout. Competitive cyclist has a decent description of the difference between #2 and #3.

Mine does not say "carbon" , just "arione cx".

or what umd said and showed.

2)cx braided-braided carbon rails, nylon shell.

3)cx carbon-braided carbon rails, carbon/kevlar shell.

I have #3. A training partner has #2. The differences aren't really there besides a tiny weight savings. Perhaps in the long run it's more comfortable, but the cutout is not like a true cutout where the weight gets shifter way more to the sit bones or elsewhere.

Compared to the standard nylon shelled arione the differences are rather significant. There's way more cushion on the nose of the standard model and a little more in the rear.

I scored the carbon-shelled, carbon-railed model of Fleabay. The regular Arione (2007 model year) sucked for me but I've heard they changed a lot in the CX model and am going to give it a try
