Thanks Ed. There won't be any stinking clipless pedals on my track bike! Useless as...

I was thinking more the shoe itself, but I guess I could go with the same fit but better fastening system to get rid of the freedom.

Hello lotek. Long time...

Ed, what's diff between wood soled and CF? I thought the latest generation of plastic shoes was pretty stiff. Besides, you don't getsplinters fro CF :D

Wood has absolutely no give at all it's laminated in layers like a skateboard....you can't even feel them flex in the slightest when walking on 'em. But a bit painful.....you can only wear them for 45 min-1hr then have to get em off. Strictly hard core, but incredible power transmisson.

Tell that to the last guy that snapped his carbon seatpost

climbo 08-10-05 08:06 PM

go the wood soled, you'll have plenty of "trackie cred" at track night :)

I use the standard old road shoes and pedals as do most people. Some use straps but then, they almost fall over when they can't grab a rail or get a handler to get out of them in time.

I can just see it now, they all laugh and guffaw as I roll up with my $1000 KHS crap bike from china then hush as I reveal the wood soles. Sensational :D

What!!!?!! Fall over? You can't be serious. If I fall over because I can't unclip please put me out of my misery. Mind, I've only ever ridden 600m on a fixie in my entire life!!!

lotek 08-10-05 08:14 PM

yah it has been a while (not that I haven't kept up).
Tell you what, I'm thinking that part 3 might be in order,
what say ye gents?

I also have the same crap bike from China but with Bianchi written on it. One other guy there has a really cool old Malvern Star track bike. Where'd you get yours? Wait until I teach you track skids, you'll be having a ball.

They have the full double strap trackie pedals you cannot get out of easily. No worries with standard pedals :)

Mate, I haven't got it yet! Got sick of looking for a bargain on ebay. But, as luck would have it Rod Martins has my size bike in-store and it's only double the price that I wanted to shell out. Guess I'll have to forgo getting that collapsed wisdom tooth seen to for another month or two!! :D

Ah, so that's why you're here, letting us know Part 3 is imminent, eh? What I'll do is post below this a sort of introduction that you can use as the first post for Part 3 (Because I started this thread and want to go first :D)

On a bike related note fellas, just a quick note to let you know I can now get Shimano, Chris King, White Bros and Answer/Manitou parts OEM. What does that mean? It means I can do some pretty competitive deals on complete bikes or frame/fork/parts packages. Actually, 'competitive' is a bit of an understatement - it makes wholesale look like downright unaffordable.

Anyway, if you want to take advantage in the future, you know where to look.

With a frame, fork and headset package probably not much more than about 1200 bucks (but don't quote me on that, I still have to do the sums).
