[edit] PS. not many A graders in our bracket, but some very strong B graders who verge on being A grade |

That dude is built like a freaking rock to do that. I thought I was something special hoisting my Mongoose XR-100 with Nashbar resealable (can we say heavy) tires over a gated fence two times a day:p

Hey fellas another quick noob question. Getting my lady into the bikes cause she's got bad knees (it helped my dodgy knee so worth a go for her). Anyway got to get her some duds because my mtb is abusing her poor little butt. But my local only has boys dacks. Any of you lot know whats the go with girls dacks and what are some gooduns?
|
I've got some baggy MTB shorts with linings, what size does she wear?
|

in the olden days the chamois in all cycle shorts had a bewdiful seam down the middle. Never bothered us guys, so no-one that's the way shorts were built for nearly a century. Then cycling became popular with the ladies in the early 90's and they started complaining about certain sensitivities. So the companies that cared to listen stiched the chamois in a way that eliminated the stitching down the centreline. Voila, happy female riders. The other difference is the cut. Ladies hips are (generally) much wider than mens, so the cut has some more 'belly' in the thigh area than mens daks. It's a feature that can be useful for overweight guys who have a big arse and thighs but skinny knees and lower legs. |
Oh yeah, make sure you get her set up on the bike properly. Girls (and yes I'm generalising) have this habit of wanting to sit lower than they should which puts more strain on their knees.
|
you sure know a lot about female bike shorts, should we be worried? :)
|
No, my knowledge is gleaned from years of careful observation! :D I knew all those long hours of study would pay off in the end

Thanks for the info fellas. Those Cannibal duds any good? Yeah, jock, I think I have her set up pretty right. But she wont let me see her ride yet (buggered if I know why) so I can't be sure. For all I know she might be doing silly things. |

But seriously, it'll be an image thing fer shore. Try some of those baggy shorts that Expat was spruiking. Casual feel and 'normal' appearance. |
lol. Yeah, I'm not sure if I'll be able to get her to catch the cycling bug. She's a bit wary of us lycra posers, so I'm sure baggies would be the go. Are they ladies baggies Expat?
