Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

front derailleur replacement time?

I have a Campy Record Ti/Carbon FD and the part that screws to the derailleur cage (furthest back) snapped loose from the. I loosened the screw and snapped the carbon side back into the slot, but now it is more "audible" when shifting to the big ring. See image for the location (circled in red). If I epoxy this piece should I be okay, or should I get a replacement FD? Campy parts aren't cheap and was wondering a few things about FDs:

Any bottom pull Campy 9/10 speed FD should work for me?
Can I use a SRAM/Shimano FD in the front instead, or would there be issues with ergo levers?

Bikes: Old Steelies I made, Old Cannondales

I've been using a Dura-Ace with my '06 Chorus shifters ... works like a charm.
