<disclaimer> I'm happily married, this is a complete hypothetical! </disclaimer>
If I could find a woman who...
- Enjoyed cycling.
- Played table tennis.
- Was a complete computer geek.
- Liked watching the Food Channel, History Channel, and Discovery.
- Liked 70's and 80's rock.
- Could get by on 6 hours of sleep.
- Green eyes, red hair, looks good in cutoff jean shorts and a flannel shirt tied into a halter top.
...life would probably be real exciting for a year....then boring as shiat.

Lets see...
She's a triathlete.
You're a roadie (and a beginner, not that it matters)
Give up. She's a triathlete. We will always be able to drop a roadie, anytime, anywhere, if we so desire.

if she waited for you to catchup i think that says something for her. i have been in that situation only reversed. take her out for dinner and see what chemistry if any exists. like others have said in this thread, most of us would kill to find a girl that was REALLY into cycling. whatever, good luck!

lol @ droppin roadies ... good stuff.
Get a real bike that is atleast on par with her solid steed, learn to shift .. I mean really learn to shift, carb up before and during rides ( maltodextrin ), make sure you run a clean and oiled chain, derailleur jockey wheels and pedal spindles, learn to tune and clean the bike yourself and offer to gently clean her rig over a beer?, try your best not to look like a complete fred on rides unless she goes for that kinda thing. And you're gonna need to learn to suck wheel untill that magical day you pop out of her draft and destroy her will to push on with your town sign sprint fury. Do not let that wheel get past 3 or 4 feet out and you'll be fine.
This is gonna cost you thousands but it's probably worth it in the long run.
Also, ask her for tips to help you develop and actively practice in a safe manner around her for feedback. Ask her to do skill rides. Work on the fundamentals with her, like shifting .. or better yet ask her to be involved in you picking a worthy-of-her-pace steed. I'd suggest the fit chart at competitive cyclist and get a fitting when you go to clipless pedals. Also, find your limiting factors in performance ( cardio, power, stamina, etc) and talk to her about it, ask what she'd recommend you do to increase them. Apparently enthusiasm and a desire to learn are endearing qualities.
Good luck in cycling and

Yah STRONG triathletes will always drop roadies... unless the roadie attacks, gets up out of the saddle or makes any sudden changes in pace. Then the tri weenies just complain about how this isn't a crit and they haven't trained their fast twitch muscles. Otherwise, yes, ride slow for 112 miles and tri dweebs are pretty strongish.

It might actually be smart of her to establish the "parameters" of the possible relationship at the start! If riding is important to her, it's best to get that info at the beginning! At the least, it quickly weeds out the men who would be upset by being dropped by a girl!

I'd suggest NOT riding with her unless she's doing a recovery ride. If she really is training you will be a nuisance. Don't be that guy.
TALK about riding and her training while sitting at a local juice bar.
Then ask her if she likes dancing or has seen such and such a new movie.
Bug plus for you, when a girl kicks your arse it's like she's saved your life and now owns your soul - kinda like a puppy.
Girls like puppies.
Do you see where I'm going with this?
No. No need to thank me now.
Good luck.
