Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The numbers here are actually relatively low ... well within normal ranges.

Something like 450km in 24 hours, on a 600k brevet. Pretty slow by fast LD standards, but I get the job done.

12 hours, think it was around 150-180 miles trying to make a plane connection. Missed the plane, had to wait 18 hours for the next one. Airports are no fun with sore legs.

Now you're just talking science fiction. Nobody rides that fast. That's ludicrous speed.

It could be argued the guys who were dropped were the ones who quit riding more than 100 miles earlier...

135 miles, but it was easier than a lot of rides under 100.
I think my limit is around 11-12 hours. 8 hours is plenty, most days. I have no interest in sleep deprivation rides or 18 hour sufferfests, never have. Might do a double century if I thought I could finish in 12 hours.
