Before anyone goes off yes I did search this topic and did not find much of anything recent. Did anyone use these wheels (sram s60) this past season? Did you like them?

In theory these are rebadged Flashpoints with much better hubs than they used in the past. The hub/spoke assembly looks like a Mavic SL setup. I have a set, they are for fun more than anything, and easy to get since I can practically walk to the Zipp factory. Obviously not as light as Zipps, either the wheels or your wallet.

They are fine.

According to what I was told, after SRAM bought Zipp they planned to change the stickers. I've only seen one set so far.

I'm in the same position as the OP... They seem heavy, but bulletproof. Are there other more recent opinions out there?

I have seen a couple of sets pop out of true within short order. One set broke a spoke. Not sure why - didn't have my hands on it, but happend to a Cat2 teammate.

I have this theory that some riders are just MUCH TOUGHER on their equipment than others. It doesn't get any better at pro or competitive level.

I'd agree....but this guy....is different. He only used them as race wheels and the broken spoke happened in one of the first races.

Again - I didn't get my physical hands on the wheel but from my experience it just sounded like one of those - poop happens - kind of things. One spoke with a flaw or tensioning issues.

In general I have always been impressed with the work that Zipp does.

I have only the front wheel. I ran it off and on all summer, depending on the weather and what I was doing that day. No problems, but I am not real hard on wheels - I tend to beat up derailers for some reason. And I had a mechanic relax and retension it before I put it on for the first time. The wheel is still true, and yes I see a difference in effort required when I ride, but I ride pretty fast and hard compared to some on this board (from what I can gather from posts).

So when you say that you can see a difference in effort do you mean that you see an increase because of the increased weight of the S60 when compared to, say a comparably aerodynamic, yet lighter Zipp wheel?

Or do you mean that you see a decrease in effort in comparison to a regular box rim type wheel (i.e. can maintain a particular speed using less power)

Or neither?

I have 3 sets of wheels if you count the single S60. I have the original 105 hubs/CXP-22 wheels, a set of Williams System 30, and the single S60. The CXP-22 wheels will be going on the bike soon and stay until spring. The rear System 30 is on the bike all summer. The front swaps between the S60 and System 30. I only use the S60 on reasonably calm days or when I am riding by myself, which is less and less these days. The reason being is that the group I normally ride with rides fast and very close together. I don't want to take any chances if it is a little windy. I don't have a power meter, so this is only feel, but the S60 is easier to push through the air than the System 30 by a noticable amount. The biggest change is the feeling when the front wheel rolls off and leaves me to pull. With the System 30 there is much more of a "wall" when that happens then with the S60.

But it might just be in my head, since I am an engineer and my education tells me that the deep rim should slice the air better. If I were to check on a power meter it might not mean anything.

But you have to admit, there is a really big "bling" factor with an S60 wheel

Has anyone tried to replace spokes with a different than from SRAM kits? I know that the spokes are manufactured by Sapim, but CX/CX-Ray have a bit different dimensions.
