Peter White v. Neuvation v. Mike Garcia
Another wheelset question. I've searched this forum for several years before making component purchases - the knowledge base has been incredibly helpful.
I'm upgrading my wife's everyday wheelset from the 1736 gram Velocity Uriels that came stock on her Paketa build four years ago. She's 5'3, 125 lbs - a non racer, but a competitive club rider. She's the only woman in our group, can hold her own, and can outclimb most of the guys. She will never race, but I know in her head, she's racing every time she rides in the group. She doesn't think she needs new wheels, but I do. I'm deciding between the three above, but considered Soul (don't like shipping to Singapore for replacement/warranty issues) and Williams Cycling (why not go with Neuvations for less?).
I spoke to Peter White. He recommended a build with Aeroheads, 24 spokes front, 28 rear, and White Industries H2 hubs. $626, which is more than I'd like to spend, but I love the lifetime guarantee and the H2s. Peter doesn't like grams (see website) and only uses Wheelsmith spokes.
John Neugent at Neuvation suggested the R28 SL5 front and the SL6 rear. $368, which is an awesome price. 1520 grams. FYI - probably based on all the comments, John says 2010 Neuvations will have new decals.
Based on the recommendations, I contacted Mike Garcia. I haven't heard back but am willing to wait if that's what is suggested. Based on what I've read about his response time and the status of his website, I'm not optimistic.
Any thoughts? Thanks very much.

I would build them myself using Mavic CXP33 rims (see Sheldon brown's web site) or I would buy a set of Fulcrums from the UK (assuming you have Shimano parts on that bike).

Williams System 19.
Or, since it's getting toward the end of the model year, shop around for bargains and try to score some Easton EA90 SLXs for around $500.

The wheels from Peter White will last forever.
I don't really care for the Neuvation wheels I've seen. I'd look up the white hub weights online. I'd bet they're just a bit heavier than the Neuvation wheels when built.
I bought DTRR1.1 rims/Revolution Spokes/240S hubs from bicyclewheelwarehouse for just under $600 shipped. 32 spoke 2cross front/3 cross rear. They've been great, even on the rough Italian roads. They were like 1550 grams.

Never heard of psimet.com, but I'm looking into it. Anyone have any experience on their wheels?
At 1440 grams, the Williams System 19s are $499 with $20 shipping, rim strips, skewers, t-shirt, brake pads, and two water bottles. The extras are pretty funny.

I saw those posts. I was hoping someone had a positive experience recently given all the great stuff said in years past. Looks like the website has been under construction for 10 months.

Another vote for Psimet. Great guy to deal with and great prices.
I will add that a local fast guy rides Neuvations and is very happy with them.

I did a couple weeks of research before I pulled the trigger last night on my wife's new wheels. I did the same thing a while ago for my wheels - I ride Campy Eurus and Reynolds Assaults and couldn't be happier. I seriously looked at Soul 2.0s, Ksyrium Elites, SSC SLs off ebay, Fulcrums, Eastons, Williams System 19, Neuvations, and several wheelbuilders. I had budget constraints because my wife is happy with her Velocity wheels and unaware of this purchase.
Nothing can compare to the prices and product at psimet.com. For example, the Williams System 19 uses the Kinlin XR-200 with an import hub and non-Sapim spokes. Rob can build a better wheel with the same Kinlin rim, CX Rays and White Industries H2 hubs for a competitive price. He's a Kinlin and White Industries dealer.
After about a dozen emails back and forth with Rob, my final build was: Kinlin XR-270 front 20f/2x and Kinlin XR-300 rear 24f/2x with CX Rays and black White Industries H2 hubs.
Total weight is 1481 grams.
Call it shilling, call it whatever you want, but four days ago, I'd never heard of psimet.com. Rob has a superior product at an incredible price. I appreciate the recommendation. Thanks.

Isn't that great big statue at a local tire store in Peoria? The big Amazon out front?
