Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I've done a lot of cycling here, in various parts of Australia, without any difficulties to speak of. Who needs bike lanes to ride on????

Which part of Australia are you in?

deadlifts in the gym sounded more fun. atleast i rode my commute bike to the gym and back, 18miles total. but man those deadslifts hurt, more so after 200 1 arm (15lbs dumbell) walking lungs yesterday and the other leg stuff.

Rode 60 miles.

Perfect weather to get back into shorts and s/s jersey: 43 degrees with drizzle/fog.

I can avoid the crappy driving of holiday shoppers by taking to now-deserted MUP's.

Went out in 20F temp and roads covered in Ice. Didn't chance a road bike but result is obvious. If I hadn't laughed at my riding partners off so much I might have stayed on the bike

Just finished 22 miles. First ride in three weeks. Low 60's, sunny skies. Rode in shorts and short-sleeve jersey, with long sleeve shell and long fingered gloves in my jersey pockets just in case it started cooling down fast than expected. Started to get kinda cool going through the shade the last few miles but all in all, a nice day for a ride.

I am guessing nobody has this excuse: building a puppet theater for my grandkids. Christmas is rushing toward us.

Yesterday my excuse was gymnastic meet, kids. I rode today up the mesa then Jemez dam road, Algodones and then up Placitas via Camino Manzano and Diamond Tail rd for some tough climbs and then past the paved portion of 165. I climbed an additional 3 miles of snow packed gravel. Actually when the gravel is wet it is doable to climb it on skinny tires as the earth is more packed. I may have made the 8 miles of this road where it joins the Sandia Crest road, but I know I would not make it home before Sunset. 83 miles today but now I am feeling a bit sick from overdoing it. 3 miles of downhill on the snow on slicks is as idiotic as it gets. Also I do not want to be flattened by the 4 wheel drive trucks going downhill, but all of them were nice and actually encouraging. Such is New Mexico where the wood chuck cagers are nicer than the city cagers. I did enjoy it today, even though the PM numbers are dismal compared to what I have been getting lately. Oh well such are base type miles. I do love New Mexico and lucky to live here.

Yesterday. It was the previous nights bike club Christmas party.I wanted a Saturday night, but all said, their sons are in too many soccer matches......That way we would have gotten in our Sunday ride...... We stayed up late. Too much food and wine... So all said, we'll skip it... And it was a beautiful day.. Today.. Skies are clear, but the wind is howling . Those gusts must be at least 60 mph.
