Best Sub-$100 Helmet?
Firstly, yes I realize this has been double-posted, and I apologize. Some sort of issue arose with the original thread where it would not show when the link was clicked on. If a mod could please delete the original, that'd be great.
So,
Suggestions for the best helmet in that price range? I need a new one and $100 is my max price, and for me ventilation > weight.
Thanks.

Bell Alchera. Reasonably light, lots of vents, good adjustability, can be found for under $50. May fit your head differently from mine. While Bell and Giro are both owned by the same parent company, I find Giro helmets too long and narrow while Bells fit me just right.

walmart sells 2 decent bell helmets for 50 bucks I bought one, there is the bell mantra in black and a bell trespass in teal/grey, I bought the trespass because it had 1 more vent and I liked the style more. it has 22 vents in total. It is a very nice helmet.

Honestly the 'best' is totally subjective and will most likely be the one that fits you best and has decent ventilation. Different helmets fit totally differently. For example Giro helmets fit me horribly and are terribly uncomfortable, whilst Bell fits wonderfully. You've just got to try them on.

My Bell Furio is great, I bought it for like $69 but it's on sale at Performance right now for I think $39.

Specialized Echelon's a pretty good helmet. Same venting and design as S-works at 1/3 the price.

OK, having emerged out of long search for a perfect helmet myself, here is the skinny:
Giro - somewhat oval and pinched in the temples. Next!
Bell - nice and round. And looooooseeee! Next!
Trek - did not like the restraint system - sat on top of my head drilling into the scull. Out!
Specialized - slightly less pointed in the front, which fit my Hellboy's forehead bumps like a dream. Spesh has a line of helmets that descends from S-Works down to Propero, then to Echelon. They are so similar in shape that even pads are the same for all three. Difference is in the finish and internal reinforcement. I chose Propero - very lightweight, fits perfectly, vents like a tornado and does not whistle. I forgave the most dorky styling there is...
Make sure the restraint system is to your liking and take the helmet on a test ride to make sure it does not whistle. I do high speed long distance commute and I listen to my environment.
Ride Safe and have fun!
Merry Christmas

I used a Giro Indicator all season, and was very happy with it. I paid approx. $40 at the LBS for it, but I've seen it on sale recently on one of the online retailers (can't recall which one).
