thinking about a brooks b17 special saddle?
i want one, but cant decide on which color black or brown, black would probably look better on the bike, but i like the classic brown brooks look but not too sure if it will go well with the bike
here's the bike

Voted black. Brown would just be wrong on that bike.

go to chainreaction, ribble, probikekit, totatlcycling and have a look.
you might also want to think about a Selle San Marco Rolls or Regal I have a couple Brooks and San Marco saddles
the Rolls has gold trim and is the most comfortable for me
the Regal has rivets and is comfortable as well

I voted black. Great choice in going with the B17 Special regardless. I have quite a few Brooks saddles, and in my opinion the hammered copper rivets on the Special are just classic.

If you go with brown also re-tape the bars.
Brown will help the bike look less stark.
BTW, I purchased my own bike with my own money when I was 16. I still have the bike 37 years later.

Black. And when you save up some more pocket money, get the Brooks bartape to match- it will last for ages, and look seriously classy. Just don't try making your own out of a leather bag or whatever it was that nutter used...

they're equally hideous in my opinion.

Look, you're already riding a BD bike and now you're going to add a Brooks to it. I agree with both of those choices and support you there. But they also are both choices that are going to make the fashionista crowd get all snarky, regardless. Sooo as long as you are going down the path of "I make my own choices based on my own needs, thanks" then pick the color you like best.
Personally, black would be the default choice, but with the right bar tape I think the brown / honey could look really nice.

I voted brown. I don't like black bikes all that much. Personally I'd go with the brown saddle, tan bar tape and then get some gum side wall tires.
That's me. Go for what you like. Have you ridden a brooks saddle? Do you find them comfortable?

i have decided to just get the black, although i really like the idea of the brown with the brown leather wraps to compliment, i dont think i could spend another 70 dollars for wrap, thanks for all the input though

That can be true, it can be false. Brooks saddles are no different than any other saddle in the sense that they're extremely comfortable for some people, and others find them very uncomfortable. Probably no other saddle does get more positive reviews for comfort, though, than the Brooks B17.

I was taught that black socks with brown shoes was a no-no. I say black. I have brown on my tourer and black on my Allez. Your opinion may vary.

Take a look at a B-17N. Very comfortable and look better on road bikes because they're narrower. Go with black on that black bike!

Brooks saddles are great for comfort and years of wear. Heavy though. When you buy a Brooks, you're buying Old World, hand-made beauty. If you want lightest-fastest-on-the-climbs, weight-weenieing gram-shaviing performance, foggedabout it. I do a lot of riding on a Brooks, brown. But I eat organic.
