Wheel Building Help
I have never built wheels before, but want to do so for a winter project. I am 155 pounds and am thinking about the White Industries hub with Kinlin rims. What I need help with is determining the spoke count. How do you do this? Can someone recommend a website or other resource that would be helpful determining which spoke count is right for you and the type of riding you do? Or is it just a matter of personal preference? I ride with fast groups, and hope to jump into racing next season. I know this has been covered here before, but I can't get the search function to work properly. Thanks for your help.

There is no real rule for spoke count, and it depends on the rim and how sturdy you want it to be.
I'm about your weight and I would be comfortable on a daily basis on 24f 28r for low profile rims like the Kinlin XR-200. With the XR-270 or XR-300, 20f 24r would be fine. Be meticulous building them and tensioning them, and they should last you a good while.
And although Rich answered a question that was never asked, it's good advice for someone doing his first build.
