Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Need help with fork selection/related questions

I'm researching options for upgrading my fork but have a few questions. My current setup it a non integrated headset (pictured), Crane Creek Aheadset manufactured by TH Industries. Fork tube diameter is 1 1/8", 43 degrees of rake- this is the extent of what I know. Questions:

1) I'm assuming (perhaps erroneously) there's not much to gain by upgrading the headset. If this isn't the case, what are the benefits of upgrading and which headsets should I consider?

2) I'm looking at the Easton EC90, Ritchey WCS and the Felt 1.1 forks. I can't find anything that says they are or are not compatible with non integrated headsets. Anyone know?

3) I take my bike on and off my roof rack frequently, almost daily. Will carbon drops handle this type of abuse? Should I get aluminum drops?

Is there any other considerations? Other forks I should look at or stay away from? Thanks in advance for any info...
