matte paint... to wax or not to wax?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

matte paint... to wax or not to wax?

I just got a new bike of CL that has a matte finish to the paint. What should I do in terms of protection? I would assume it can be waxed just like any other type of paint but thought I should ask first

Likely not if you want it to stay matte. It's not a car, don't wax it, just wipe it off.

You could probably use a polish like pledge that would brighten the finish a bit and help repel dirt. That's what i use on my bbq C'dale. It's more satin than matte tho.

No wax for matte. It won't be matte anymore.

I've used those citrus cleaning wipes that they sell in car parts stores or the automotive section of discount stores. You have to find one that doesn't leave a residue, though. The brand name ones like "Armor All" seem to work best for not leaving a residue. Anyway wipe the bike with the cleaning wipe and then "polish" dry with a soft cloth.
