'Days Off'
OK, so who discovered these, because I think they're helping my riding. Now let me get this straight: I'm supposed to take one or more of these 'Days Off' every single week? That doesn't sound right.
I may need a 21 Day Velo Rehab. Can I bring my bike?

I dunno... I was taking about 30 days off for every one or two days on, for around 2 years. My cycling sucked major ass. I think there may be an optimum days-off/days-on ratio.

Try doing an easy recovery ride on those days. You still get out on the bike and you get rest too. In fact since it's an easy day, it's a pleasant ride, as long as you can keep your competitive urges in check and not chase down little girls on "my little pony" bikes when they drop you.

Here's what I have to climb at the end of my 'recovery ride'.

Even in the 39 x 25 going very slowly, I'm still putting out 300-400 watts in a few spots (and there are three grades this steep on that hill). That's a problem. OFF the bike is generally better.

In my limited experience, research, coaching help etc, the body needs down time to build from the workloads you give it. Obviously there are various schools of thought, and people are different. Last year I was training hard 3-4 days a week, and this year Im only doing 2 "hard days" as well as 2-3 moderate days...so far Im feeling better with a little more rest.
But again, its relative. Im much newer at this than many people here, and my weeks are maybe 7 +/- hrs. And its mostly short intense work. Threshold, V02, and AC workouts.
