Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I decided not to pass on my Italian genes, they are just too dangerous.

I say get a nice Southern model, they work extra hard to make you as comfortable as possible, and instead of needing to be cleaned they will clean your other bikes for you, and cook too!

I built one and it started making a sound like a motor scooter. Sounded like "b*tchb*tchb*tch;nagnagnagnag.."

Pretty much. Belt driven ones are quieter and lower maintenance.

OK, I'll concede the point. However, I still think he'd be better off with an Italian BB, vs and English one. Better performance.

Fit is only part of the equation. According to the TV last night, a scientific study correlates breast shape with certain personality traits. You should prefer pear-shaped breasts for greatest affinity for .. uh .. physical activity.

I mean, what good is a GF of the proper geometry if she won't ride?

Did I stumble upon the Stuff Mag forum? Or did it just spill over here? Argh.

It's not the thread itself that's over the top, though by the end of the first page it was pushing it. Skipping to the last page was enough to seal the deal, the d***baggery has begun.

But hey it's a guy's forum right? Or...... a cyclist's forum?

Now tell me what's funny in equating women with objects?? (again, btw, we've been over this BF...)

Personally I would like the ladies to start a complementary thread to this one. I would think it would be equally as funny and perhaps insightful as well.

First off, I'd like to welcome you to the internet. Please have a seat.
Second, it would appear that you are easily offended. That's too bad for you. Everything in this thread has been (hopefully) said in jest. I seriously doubt that anyone who has posted in this thread in real life objectify women. If some have, well, that's their problem. Quit worrying about it.
Third, it's the winter. Life as a cyclist slows down a bit, so crazy threads start popping up. Get use to it.

And you are right. To me there's a line between stating an opinion, and then blurting or forcing an opinion. And you need to understand, I completely respect mattm's opinion on the matter of treating women as objects. That's a legitimate concern that is sadly still a part of some of our culture, and can be viewed to a greater extent on the internet thanks to a sense of anonymity. The people that I cannot stand, and this isn't being directed at anyone here but at the American culture in general, are the small groups of people who claim to be offended on a certain matter, and then subsequently turn whatever offended them into a legal matter. Again, what mattm raises isn't something that only a handful of people object to, but a much larger crowd. Calling everyone here ******bags because of it? Ehhh that's a little much. The people that pursue a legal course which stems from their opinion irk me. You'll notice that most people, from politicians to people you meet on the street, will try hard not to offend anyone from fear of legal repercussions because they stated their opinion on a matter. It's like if I said I disliked marmalade because I thought it tasted bad, and then someone came up to me and told me that they're going to sue me because they were offended by my opinion because it didn't agree with theirs.

trying to get the thread back on its tracks, I did not see anybody mentioning the fact that OP should try at least few girls (for his bike) before deciding with the final purchase.

After reviewing this thread for humor, objectification, ******-baggery, and NSFW'ed-ness, I have reached the conclusion that some of you have very restrictive employers.

This thread has run its course. It did have its moments but I'm afraid the moment is over.
