Don't sweat it. I teach music. Still, if only you saw the few written assignments I collect, you wouldn't feel bad about the your/you're thing.
Edit: And did I read that right? You can't edit your post just because I quoted it and changed something?

No, it was a common lamentation (sp?) from when I was in school that if the teacher marked it with a red pen you couldnt beg forgiveness and make the correction for full credit. Not that I would have tried.

man...this thread has ballooned during my absence.
the internet is rampant with spelling errors...
'definately'
its it's you're your distinctions
i thought about it...and my usage of 'gay' is more akin to 'nuts' than it is to any other harsher expletive. It's not like nuts (both varieties) are viewed in a negative light. I just think it's funny due to its anachronistic usage. Same applies to my usage of the word 'gay'.
I think 'gey' and 'ghey' aren't really efforts to break the association with *****exuals, but funny spellings that people use when chatting, etc. I know that's what I used to do...when I was younger...
Anyway.
seriously. how do you calculate gradient?
Is it just the tangent of the angle of the hill? so a 45 degree hill would be a 10% grade? a 60 degree would be about 17%?
Please confirm.

for instance a 1000 foot length with a 100 foot vertical climb would be 100/1000 = .1 or 10%
a 45˚ angle is 100% since rise and run are equal (from trigonometry)

Hey Grumpy, so it is possible to have a grade greater than 100%? and to express it as such, 135% grade would be acceptable?

I would like to say that umd and I have hashed this out via pm. and that I would like to publicly appologize to him for my part in this misunderstanding. I hope he agrees with this. I would like to say that he did go over and above to work this out with me.
