strictly cycles has some high dollar bikes laying around, i would love to put together a nice fixed gear like the one your buddy is on. what gearing were they running?

I try not to go in there because I can't afford 90% of the stuff; talk about rue.

Just eyeballing, 1/3 of the bikes in there come with Di2! They showed me some Reynolds RZR's a few weeks ago that cost more than my whole bike!

I don't know anything about fixed gear bikes. All I know is that all of the chainrings were definitely smaller than 63t.

According to the Scott website the steerer tube is carbon.

Now it's Piermont's problem. Their velo tech savvy knows no limits.

it's sort of like taking a car with a rattle to a garage and telling them..fix it.

I hope you are not paying shop rates.

mzeffex 04-05-10 02:12 PM

Hey freds, I'm heading out to Hains point now. I'll be the one in the t shirt and soccer shorts.

mzeffex 04-05-10 05:34 PM

It was a nice ride, I think I'm fairly fast. Fairly. For a fred of course. I want to race.

I got spit on twice by the same guy, we were going fast enough that even though I was 15 feet back it kept landing on my leg. You jerk. I hope you read this.

I pay nada. They fix it. That's why they're my LBS.

I'm avoiding Hains Point until the pink flowers fall off the trees. Crazy down there. Which is too bad, because I normally do a lot of after work riding there because traffic is crazy every where else.

The bit right where the bike path enters it was crazy, tour buses everywhere. Friggen tourists. It's a dome shaped building, I mean really.

The Mets won their Opening Day game.

So it begins. F me.

And you think this is a Loser Thread that never ends. Try being a Mets fan.

BarryJo 04-05-10 07:40 PM

There was a brief moment today when I actually thought this thread was in danger of falling off page 1.
Thanks all for restoring my faith in Bike Forums.

BTW - in an effort to get my post count over 2000,
in case it hasn't already been covered in this thred (I'm not going back to look), The Sox in Red beat the stankin' Yankees last night.

I did get a kick out of the Mets fans at work giving me grief because the Yanks lost, and as much as I wanted to remind them of who won what last season I thought I'd let them have their moment in the sun.

You have to go to the second floor to look at the average joe bikes; Nelson had the right idea setting up that cafe by the expensive bikes.

patentcad 04-05-10 07:44 PM

See, the boys in the 33 make fun of this thread, and they belittle the 41. But in the end they'll see. They'll all see. Those guys are too wound up. Part of it is they don't get laid enough.

I want to do group rides but it seems weird being 16 and joining a group ride with adults.. what would you (anyone) do if I (on behalf of anyone whos my age) showed up? Serious answers please (as serious as they get)

Will you STFU and go ride your bike? Join the group rides. We have teen agers on some of our group rides, some very fast, some slow, they get yelled at sometimes, but we try to take them under our wing and encourage them. You'll probably get the same reaction, if not, try a different group. This sport needs new blood for after when the rest of us get flattened.

mzeffex 04-05-10 07:56 PM

Haha, okay. Thanks.

You gotta start somewhere kid. What kind of road bike do you have? Have you ridden in a pace line much?

mzeffex 04-05-10 08:03 PM

No, not too much paceline experience. I've not raced road though have my license and am debating it. Got it primarily for 'cross, which I have raced.
