Depends. A 9 speed or lower. no spacer. If its a ten speed yes you should have a spacer but I have seen it workwithout one. But to do it correct it should have it. edit; Wow, reading comprehension fail. There is a tin shim stock type washer that deforms between lock ring and casette but I dont think it is needed I only have it on one bike. I thought yoou meant the one between the big cog and the inside of the freehub. |

I'm confused. |

dont be I think it is just there to keep the lock ring and the cog from grinding on eachother when tightening and loosening, kind of sacraficial metal. After about 5 changes mine is usually toast, and I pitch it. Its like thick foil but of stiffer/harder metal, like shim stock in a machine shop. |

well if it isn't important then i won't worry about it as long as it isn't necessary for operating the gears.
I havent had any problems without it. |
Corrected results. Or lack thereof.

are you complaining? what about? you finished mid pack in your bracket. nothing to complain about. If I could do that I would have had a shirt made to comemorate the occasion. |
Went to ride in a charity 48 mile roubaix style ride today after laying in bed all week with a horrible cold.
Needless to say that 15 miles in it felt like a horse was standing on my chest. I did the short route and came home to recoup. |
PCAD... I want full credit for the next 20 pages of this thread because of this post.:thumb:
I ride with a fairly small group of guys 3 days a week. There are 8 regulars that show up no matter what. Out of those 8 people, 5 ride Trek Madone's. How many out of those 5 people have had a problem with their Madone? All 5.:( They have all had to send their Madone frames back because of either the downtube cracking or the seat tube cracking. Actually 1 guy sent his frame back twice. Of course all of their frames were replaced under warranty and most of them got this years frame. Not sure what to think of it, but it has made me want to stay away from Trek frames for some reason. I'm buying a Ti bike.:innocent: |

Actually, I rode a bit better than I thought, I was prepared to not break 30 mins. At least you can rest comfortably, somewhat, maybe not, in the fact that you destroyed the last place guy by 30 minutes; way to go! |
