I ride with a fairly small group of guys 3 days a week. There are 8 regulars that show up no matter what.

Out of those 8 people, 5 ride Trek Madone's.

How many out of those 5 people have had a problem with their Madone?

All 5.:( They have all had to send their Madone frames back because of either the downtube cracking or the seat tube cracking. Actually 1 guy sent his frame back twice.

Of course all of their frames were replaced under warranty and most of them got this years frame.

Not sure what to think of it, but it has made me want to stay away from Trek frames for some reason.

I'm buying a Ti bike.:innocent:

I bought a second hand but new in the box frame and the drop out pulled out of the chain staya month after I bought it. Trek fixed it, The shop I used screwed me, But Trek took care of it reasonably. I would buy another but it would be new with a warranty. My Madone rocks.

Please. Top 9th out of 13 guys is humiliating and self loathsome. Still, considering the fact that I thought I'd slog up that stupid hill in 30 minutes, I wasn't too crushed.

Then the Mets lost to the Phils 10-0 and my day was complete.

westwood velo owned that race huh?

Yeah, those Madones do appear to be pretty flakey. Eff 'em.

Were those pictures on the website from today?

One guy was riding a mountain bike.

But my favorite is the guy with the aerohelmet. The winner's speed was 16 mph.

Meanwhile, in West Tennessee:

patentcad 05-01-10 06:26 PM

There is one flat section where I hit 25mph on the way up the hill. Less than a mile on a 5.5 mile course. Average grade is 4.7% for the whole route. Most of the climbing is on a 6-8% grade, kicks up near the top with a couple of 12-14% sections, particularly the last 150 meters. Smallest gear I had today was a 39 x 23, I bogged down a bit in that at times, but if I was in the shape I wanted to be in for that event that wouldn't have happened.

I like that race. I can ride better there. I'll be there next year too.

ls01 05-01-10 06:28 PM

And why werent you in the shape you wanted to be in?

heckler 05-01-10 06:28 PM

I was about to say you will really be crushing them in 55+ but it looks like you actually would have been last out of the 3 55+ dudes.

"Heart/CADV/CC Evesham " Is a team near me...I can't believe a few of them went way up there. Maybe I will make the trip one day.

PS I lost like 3 lbs by not eating...even after the big feast at the end of tye program. I almost want to stop eating again and get below 200.

My new bike is sitting at the UPS place 30 min away and I need to wait till Monday for it to be delivered :(

Three tooth extractions since Xmas, followed by weeks on pain meds and antibiotics screwed my whole Spring.

:(

I can ride that course two minutes faster. The 55+ is usually bigger, and on a good day I might get a result. Whatever. I don't do this sport because I'm good at it. I do it because it's good for me.

Well sounds like you did way better than you actually had a right to expect to do. You did top 10 with an ample amount of setbacks wtf are you bicthing about? Now if its just so you have something to self loath about, well that entirely different. You dont need a reason for that. Actually reason would get in the way of it.

Top 10 in a race with 13 old guys is DFL + 4, all your Fredly Assertions aside. I entered that race just to see how bad I would ride, and I wasn't as terrible as I expected to be. It's coming around. I've been training hard now and off pain meds for about three weeks.

yeah, I know, I can read. thats why I didnt get all the whining. Although I do think that having teeth pulled to make yourself lighter is cheating. So where should a well trained up pcad have placed, all things going accourding to plan?

I would like to ride up that hill in under 26 mins. What result that gets me is in God's hands. She is a Mets fan and She has a cruel sense of humor by the way.

ls01 05-01-10 08:48 PM

taking 2 min off your time today moves you up 12 spots to 44th place. but 3 rd in your age bracket. I guess its something to train for.

It's more than one person, just the general stupidity of the threads in the 41. And then the real threads get no responses.

And pcad, Cav had dental work done and he seems to be riding alright....

yeah, but its out of your control so dont let it get to you. take a break, go annoy the elite on the 33 or some thing. or if you really want to improve things post some actual threads for discusion.
Remember part of it is that you already know about the things the newbs are asking about, If they dont ask how will they learn?
