I redlined my ST in first gear today. I'm not sure, but I think when I upshifted into 2nd I was going about 60 mph. The bike goes 0-100 mph in 8.4 seconds, and that's a slow-ish sport touring bike. That's how fast modern motorcycles are these days. But how can you not love a bike that's dead cross between a barco lounger and a crotch rocket? The bike blows down the road in warp drive, as comfy as a Gold Wing, keeps you dry in the rain, quiets down the high winds, and carves up the twisties with aplomb while carrying all your shlit. And it gets 40+ mpg with a 7.7 gallon tank. By the way that is the largest fuel tank on any current production motorcycle. On the highway that bike goes 300+ miles between fill ups. Some bikes barely crack 120 miles.
Some day I will be the pace bike at the Tour of California, and you will all point @ the TV and exclaim 'Holy crap botto, that's Uncle Pcad!'. |

My wife watches it. It's tolerable if you take it for the humor value. Timmy rocks.
And that Crystal Bowersox who is going to win is really a coming star. I want her album and she hasn't even recorded yet. Like Janis Joplin but not strung out on smack. More control than Janis both personally and musically. She will sell a ton of records and become a big act. I like M. Lynch too (the big African American dude). To a lesser degree I also like Casey James and Siobhan Magnus (the latter girl is drop dead gorgeous, like her style, great voice too). Fun show to watch regardless. And anything that brings pop music to the public and gets them thinking about it critically is great for the music business. Obviously good for Fox ratings too, they're making a ton of dough with the show. What I have to apologize to you idiots for watching American Idol? I'm the Big Star on this incredibly shallow and moronic website. I am clearly beyond embarrassment at this point, don't you think? |

Idol is ike the BF of Prime Time. But it's 5x better than '24' which is now unwatchable.

Unwatchable sitting for an hour watching on TV, yes, but online it's a joy.

My post count is approaching 5000 and my bike odometer is 27 miles from rolling over 10K. Coincidence?
That's 10K in less than 3 years. What I lack in mileage I make up for in feet climbed per mile. Minimum of 1500 every time I roll out the door. |

I'm sure I must average 1500 vertical feet per ride. Hell, the ride up Mt. Doom alone is about 400'. I did at least 8000' Sat and Sunday.
We're both awesome cyclists. |

I watch Idol via the DVR...fast forward through the "you suck" performers. I do like to listen to Crystal and Mike.
One of my "big" bosses wandered through my lab today and asked if I watched the "game". I said no and he then spent nearly 10 minutes...I timed him lol...regaling me with a blow by blow of the high points of the game. When he finished I told him bike racing was my sport of choice and spent 10 minutes regaling him with high points of Flanders...hehehe doubt he wanders through the lab when I'm on duty again. |
We have weekly team meetings via conf. line and webex, as several of us are home-based. When you log on to webex, you can use any name you want. We have one guy who's a huge St. Louis Cards fan...today he signed on as Albert Pujols. Today, I signed on as Fabian Cancellara.

Time to ride.
|
I was riding last evening, stopped to switch on my rear blinky . . . and it was gone!
Where could it be? I remember taking it off earlier, but I thought I put it back on. I don't see it sitting around anywhere. It's hard to believe that either someone took it or it fell off, but what else could have happened to it? It's a mystery. |
