Intervals. Also, if you have to ride over 19mph to go over 19 mph.
You must have a program. In other words, you have to learn to ride slow before you ride faster.
Don't just go out and do a PR each day.
walk the bike on mondays
tempo on tuesdays (19 mph)
intervals on wednesdays
tempo on thursdays
walk the bike on fridays
balls out, as fast as you can go for your sat or sun rides.
I mean, do whatever you need to do to hang on.

+1 intervals. I quit looking at average speed and concentrated on power and my speed just went up without me knowing. Too many factors affect speed so I'd just ignore it. If you're passing people your speed is good. If they're passing you then get on it. GL

Experiment with higher cadences. Depending on your riding style, spinning faster in a lower or similar gear may help you increase speed but not increase stress on knees and ankles. If you ride at a normal 90 cadence, try 105 or 110 and see if it works for you.

my average speed doesnt seem to change much on varying the distance of rides. i think i should try harder.
