I think you have to say his name three times, like Bloody Mary or Beetlejuice.

You just nailed it. I was recently banned for saying, and it was in jest that a certain "high post" member had nothing between their ears. BOOM..one week ban. This same individual posted the picture of a serial killer, and suggested it was me. No ban...Selective enforcement is a bad thing. Lighten up ladies, and don't take yourselves so seriously. We don't...

FWIW - mods, I know most forums tend to take on the persona of the handful of most regular posters. That dates back to Usenet groups 20 years ago. It is true that the Road sub-forum is not necessarily the most forgiving of forums out there - if posters lurk for a while and get a sense of what's on/not on. I can see how some of the posts may be interpreted as stepping outside what is allowed as per forum guidelines - but for the most part, I think that is a good thing. Please don't over-mod!
The only change I'd propose is that all cleavage shots of Liz Hatch should not only be allowed but made into a sticky (err...) at the top of the page.

Are you making an effort to be nice? It seems to be working.

Actually, no. The only person here with their panties in a twist seems to be you.

There ya go, Botto - she's interested. You owe me one (actually, it is double points for a mod, isnt it?
)
Thank god. I'd hate to have the pressure of living up to your expectations

That's why I said "some"
. Overall, considering the amount of activity in BF and especially in the Road Section, I think the mods do a commendable job. It must be hard to maintain the balance they do between not being too heavy-handed and dropping the hammer on a member. I once got PM'd about my signature being offensive to a new member...who did not know that I am, in fact, black with only 8 toes...and was asked to remove it, without even letting me explain it. That was resolved amicably and the PM itself was mainly due to some "jumping of the gun" so no one is perfect and I felt the exchange was a good one.
It is certainly a job I would find rather difficult. A question though....do most mods tend to be a bit more strict until they get some seasoning or do the veteran mods kind of guide them along? It would seem to be the nature of things, would it not?
Cheers,
Brian J.

baj - when we bring new mods on we encourage them to sit back for a few weeks and get a feel for the processes in place and how things work, and also usually assign mentors to them as someone for them to direct questions and such to. Some new mods jump in with two feet (sometimes without realizing how deep the pool is), and others are a bit more cautious before getting into the thick of things. Over all I think the board runs smoother now than it did when I was a newbie mod. That or I just do less moderating. I remember that signature change request thing. Certainly a case where we the mods learned to approach such situations in a different (and better) way.

Cheers cuda. I think your method of easing new mods in is wise. I thought that was how you guys did it but wasn't certain. I would not want to be just thrown in to sink or swim if I was one. That sig thing really angered me and perhaps I overreacted as well. I think, looking back on it, is that my past history was not considered nor was I asked the reason behind my sig before I got the request to remove it or change it. As I stated in my post, the way it was resolved could not have been better. I never knew who the complainant was (and didn't need to) and was never 'strong-armed" You guys did good
Again, no one is perfect but it is a thankless job you guys (and gals) do.
Regards,
Brian J.
BTW.....you can feel free to use my actual name since I put it at the end of almost every post I make

The first time I saw your sig, I just naturally assumed that you were black with eight toes - who makes that up? That, right there, just says more about the person complaining than anything else...

Watching y'all try to find something to get defensive about in the mod posts is comical. Seems like once a year or so we have to have this big long thread were the mods get to defend themselves against all sorts. Guess it was about due. Oh, and the only way to get truly uniform moderation is to either leave it up to a computer program, or to one person who never sleeps and can speed read with the best of them (and has a damned fast internet to deal with some of the lag that the forum has).
Good night and good luck.
