Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was at the Biltmore for a wedding a few summers ago. Beautiful area and would love to have the cycle around there.

Morning ride to avoid the heat: https://connect.garmin.com/activity/39545489

About as flat as it gets around here.

80 miles today. Had a nice ride except for the flat rear tire. Left the house at 4:30 AM to beat the heat.

I call this the 75 MI. ride from hell. Two flat rear tires about 15 or 20 miles apart, Stopped at the LBS and bought a new gator skin and some C02. 12MI. + headwinds the last 25 miles. 110 degrees by the time I got home. Should have been back by 9:30 or 10 instead of going on 2 PM.

My best time on this course. The last time I rode it it took me almost an hour longer because my riding partner can't climb too well yet.

Lots of very steep climbing in Laguna Beach today:

https://connect.garmin.com/activity/39961772

Lots of 15-20% sections thrown in there. About 3,000 ft of the climbing happened in 5.5 miles of the riding, excluding descents.

Some very slow, painful, climbing. Sometimes the body just doesn't want to go.

Probably my favorite ride, a 30 minute climb(Lap 2) at 4-5% up a canyon, always super fun. I went for a PR time, but hit edit:wind at about 2/3 up, couldn't do it. Came in a minute slow of the record.
