Carbon Seatpost Question
Just got a new carbon seatpost from MEC, and it said in the instructions that "when using a carbon post, It is very important to have the seat post clamp slot on the opposite side of the seat tube slot". So after reading this, I did what it said, but not sure I have ever seen this done before. The slot in my seat tube is facing the rear wheel, so i reversed my clamp so the allen key is facing the front of the bike. Is this right for a carbon seatpost? My frame is aluminum if that makes a difference. Thanks for your help

It's so that it doesn't dig the edges of the slot into the carbon. It spreads the load out more evenly.

yea, I've seen a lot of bikes like this. I have mine this way (after seeing others done this way), although my specific post didn't specifically state to do do so. It makes you look cool and tech-savvy.

you might want to make sure the seat tube slot edge is smooth, to reduce the chance that it digs into the carbon seatpost

my Ti frame dug really deep into Alu seatpost. Not sure if it is because I put the clamp wrong or because the seatpost tube's edges are not smooth though.
