I am looking to buy cycling gear online. I usually always buy from local shops but I havent been able to find my size in stuff or they just don't have what I want exactly. I know of a few good stores (performance bike, probikekit) but I was wondering what else BF users buy from that is reliable and preferrably US based. I don't trust eBay too much with clothing so that is crossed off my list.

I've used alot of online shops. Excel, Competitive Cyclist, Universal Cycles, BikeBling, Performance, Nashbar, PricePoint Ebay, and a couple others. Nashbar shipping just outright stinks. I could drive to Ohio, pick it up, and return home to Texas, faster than they can ship it to me. Ebay, nearly everything is coming by USPS which means a week or more with no tracking.

My top 2 are Jenson and Competitive Cyclist. I know if I order from Competitive Cyclist, they are gonna ship it the same day. If I order it on Monday, It will be at my door on Wednesday. Jenson if I order it on Monday it will show up on Thurs or Friday. Both those examples are with the cheapest ground shipping. Call me a shill for CC but those guys got their store running like a machine.

wiggle, ribble, pbk, chainreaction, give you free shipping usually and ship faster than domestic stores, usually get ur stuff in a week or less and are usually the cheapest places to buy, especially with the euro down so low.

I like Performancebike. I've also bought a kit from Hammer Nutrition.

these are all good suggestions. If you are considering purchasing shoes, find a shop like performance that will let you return them even after you've worn them if they don't fit. I just sent back a pair a Sidi's that were a size too large in exchange for a smaller size. I rode in them twice, but it took that, in different socks to be sure I could not keep them...... Performance and Competitive will do that. Others possibly as well.

oh yeah, Hammer as well for your supplement and beverage needs. Their stuff uses little if any refined sugar, and stevia for sweeteners. I like that. they will also send you a ton of stuff along with your first order. Pretty cool, IMHO.

Cool! I think I am going for the shorts from HN. I might try some gels while I am at it, after reading around I hear their stuff is very good. Thanks for the shoe info too rangerdavid, I am actually in the market for new shoes but I might stick to my local lbs for those since they have what I am looking for.

For parts and tools, I like Tree Fort Bikes (www.treefortbikes.com). They seem to have good prices for t hose items. For apparel and accessories their prices aren't as good as some other sites.

I find Competitive Cyclist the definitive source for prices on high end gear, but CC is really expensive compared to many of the other stores. I would only recommend it for certain things, I usually only use it for research.

CC is awesome for their closeouts.

Hit and miss.

I was able to get my brand new DA7800 levers with cables from them for $230 shipped which is better than eBay. I must have gotten the last set too because it wasn't on their site anymore the day after I ordered them


On the flipside, they hardly ever have closeout stuff in the right size(s). Cassettes? Nobody buys 12-21 ratio. Wheels? Campy only, 650c.

But customer service is top notch indeed. Do note that they are charging ~$2000 for a 7900 group. The same you can get for $1400 from ribble so if customer service is $600 important to you, then by all means...
