This is my 3rd yr and I know I'm improving because this https://ridewithgps.com/trips/55276 would have been completely inconceivable at this time last year. I know it's not much to a lot of guys on here but for me it is a huge jump from last years climbing abilities.

Not much. But I will... provided I ride more.
As an earlier poster stated: nowhere to go but up! At my level, it is most assuredly NOT about the bike.
This year so far: measly <600 miles, about like this: 60% endurance rides (tortoise-like, @ 11-12mph, generally in mild/moderate hills and Oklahoma winds), 20% intervals, 20% noodling. Not surprisingly, my only improvement has been an increase in endurance. I now feel pretty good the first 30 miles or so; that was not true in April.
My plan: long (tour) ride coming up, for which I am alarmingly undertrained. Assuming I survive that and do not (1) die, or (2) throw my bike off a bridge in frustration, after the tour I'll switch my focus to intervals & tempo work.
So, ask again later.

Now, HERE'S a sport where I could shine! Unfortunately, I enjoy the sport I'm bad at (cycling) more than I enjoy correcting people's grammar.
Unless it's an apostrophe error. I cannot abide apostrophe errors. That's my fingernails on a blackboard, like horrendous bike set-ups to the rest of you.

ok, so now we are all pleased with our improvements, when do you expect to peak this year?
I think I might be able to peak around August. I expect to be regularly doing 18 mph average round a certain 75 mile route.

I peaked about 15 years ago, 12 years before I got back on a bike.

Maybe you should first get used to riding longer than 20 miles.
