9-5'ers, when do you ride?

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

9-5'ers, when do you ride?

For those who work 9am-5pm, when do you ride?

I've been looking at riding at 6am, but it's hard to wake up that early.

I keep the bike in the trunk along with riding gear. After work, change, hop on and good to go until ~8 - 8:30 now that the sun sets later.

after work if I can get off early enough. If not, then a late ride with headlights. Honestly, that usually doesn't happen cuz i'm just too tired, so mostly I try to get off early. since I'm the boss I usually can.

starting the world of 9-5 tomorrow...or more like 8-5, or 7am-late, depending on what i'm doing.

Just going to try to get in commuter miles, and weekends.

Either 5AM - 7AM
Or 5PM - 7PM
M-Th.
Sometimes both if work is not too busy.

In the winter I usually only ride 2-3 weekdays 5PM - 7PM.

Winter: Immediately after work; Full set of Dinotte lights make it feasible during the shortest days of the year.

Summer: Get up at 5am; Hit the road at dawn, (5:30).
This avoids the heat, and the daily threats of rain in the late afternoon here in the CO Front Range.

My schedule is somewhat flexible so often I will ride 7-9 or 7-10 before work. I ride to work, shower there, then ride home.

I ride in to work as many days as I can, shower at work. Then look for a nice long ride on the way home. 4:45pm - 8ish. Weekends time varies but I do longer rides at that time

During the week I typically ride after work. In the winter months that means my Ciocc is definitely on the wind trainer. Weekends I ride whenever I can.

I'm just not a morning person. I've tired getting to bed earlier, setting the alarm earlier. So if you have any other suggestions, please tell me...............

I ride to work and back 5 days a week (weather permitting) through most of the year except for the summer when I ride at 5:45am - 7:15am to avoid the heat when it reaches ludicrous heat levels.

As others have said, commute by bike. Even if that means driving part way into work where you can bike to an from the car.

I get up at 0500 to go run, shower & go to work at 0800. I take my bike to work in my truck to ride after work. End of the work day is normally 1730 or 1800 then I go for a bike ride until sunset. During the winter it either ride at lunchtime or if the weather is bad go to the gym to do a spin class. I am thinking about bike commuting (13 miles one way) to get the mileage-in & run/lift at lunch.

No matter how tired I am I get on the bike for a ride, normally a mile in I get energized for the ride. I don't know about anyone else I am so happy during/after a bike ride it more than worth it. I tell myself if I can find an hour to watch TV then I can find an hour to ride.

Couple of days a week I drive part way to work and cycle the remaining 25 miles. Great way to get 50 miles without much additional time.

Other weekdays it's a deal w/ the wife. She takes the kids to swim practice and I get to cycle when I get home.

This arrangement nets around 150 to 200 miles a week.

I set up the coffee the night before so all I have to do is flip the switch. I set up the bowl of cereal, so all I have to do is pour the milk. The cycling cloths are are all set out so I don't even have to think about it. And finally, I force myself to get out of bed. No hanging out in bed for even one extra minute. Oh and no heavy drinking the night before.

As I am definitely not a morning person, I ride after work, usually in the 6PM to 8PM range. In the winter, it's dark after work, so I use a MagicShine headlight and Planet Bike Superflash lights on the back. So far, so good. Go for it.

Commute. Don't take the direct route. Occasionally do intervals at lunch time. Very occasionally I get a spousal pass to hit the Tuesday or Thursday Night Worlds.
