Just wondering if anyone has used a Cateye CC-MC100W Micro Wireless bike computer? My MIL wants to buy me a computer for my birthday...my husband told me to pick one out. This one seems to have some nice functions and the reviews seem decent. I don't need the most expensive thing out there...just looking for a simple computer to help me gauge my workouts. If you have another brand/model you love, feel free to share. Thanks!

Cateye makes good products, and that have excellent customer service.

I highly recommend any of their computers. Also having wireless is a big plus. I wish I had gotten wireless from the beginning.

I really like Cateye products. I had a Cateye Micro back in the late 1980s - an excellent cyclo-computer. Sadly, after two new batteries it wouldn't return to life after 17 years of sitting unused and I replaced it with a Cateye Astrale 8 - another excellent computer with similar features.

I just ordered a Cateye Cadence. Wired means no random interference but the somewhat unsightly coil of wires that comes with it. Cateye seems to be the most reputable cycle computer in the lower price range.

I used to have that computer on my old bike. It was a solid computer and worked great, but was pretty basic. For my current, I switched to a Blackburn Delphi 4.0 (wireless speed/wired cadence) for more features. It can be found fairly cheap on Nashbar.com. I would never go back to just a regular cyclocomputer without cadence though. Having a cadence meter is definitely a worth while feature in my opinion.

I've been using the cateye micro wireless for 4 cycling seasons. It has worked flawlessly. When the micro wireless dies, i'll likely switch to the strada wireless cadence (simply because i would like cadence), but functionally, there is absolutely nothing wrong with what I'm running right now.

Yup. I've got the CC-MC100W Micro Wireless, works flawlessly. Doesn't have cadence, but I can live without it. It's a great little computer, battery life seems solid, easy to read, etc. I've got it hooked into two bikes, which is nice. I can definitely recommend it. Oh, and I've never experienced any kind of interference with the wireless signal, FWIW.

Weirdest thing that happened was I had the bike in the car and when I got to the ride starting point, the computer was showing that I'd ridden 7 miles. Turns out, I'd had the windows up and the wheels were spinning periodically from the wind, and registered on the computer (which was in my pocket).

i've used older cateye stuff and like it, and I've been looking for something new myself, had my eye on the V3 and then a friend got a Garmin forerunner 405cx that he uses for run and bike, its expensive, but its awfully tempting because of the cool features it has, particularly the data capture stuff that you can analyze on your pc... very trick, and expensive... but i'll probably stick with another cateye anyway cuz I aint got that kinda loot

I have the Cateye Micro wireless and it has worked flawlessly for 3 years now.

I have a VDO wireless computer that freaks out whenever it nears a remotely controlled gate. Also, if I run my AC during the ride home from the start point, that will totally mess up the stats. Nope, I did not do 60 mph up a 37% grade This vulnerability to random frequencies is the only thing I don't like about it. One day, I will just combine its functions with my mavic computer and just have one computer instead of two.

Cool, thanks guys! Guess I'll go with the Cateye but I'll keep your other recommendations in mind should I ever upgrade. Cadence would be nice, but for now, I need to first learn to ride a bike again and just get into shape. Maybe down the road, I'll look into that feature. And yeah, my MIL is awesome...I couldn't have picked a better one :O)

Hi, i have bought a 2nd hand road bike with a cateye micro wireless attached, literally brand new. How do you take the computer off to pop into the shops? I am trying to disconnect from the strap, it has a push clip but does it slide off or pull off? I don't want to break it as i often do with my toys!

There's a small tab attached to the mount (when the computer is attached, it's underneath it). You push the little tab down and the computer just slides off the mount.

Ah, I didn't even think about that one.

I had a regular wired Strada (no cadence), then switched to a wireless version. That was subject to interference from my Dinotte light, though, so I switched (again) to a Blackburn Neuro 5.0. That was neat, but the backlight was unusable in some conditions (streetlights, for one), and after a while, I found that I just didn't need the HR and cadence anymore. I don't log all that data once I get home, the HR just puts a number to my pain, and the cadence isn't anything I can't determine by just humming some music.

Right now I've got a Shimano Flight Deck, bought at a liquidation sale to match the 7800 shifters I also got there. I haven't found out whether it also suffers interference from a Dinotte light, but it's kinda neat to watch the gear indicator do its thing. If I switch away from Shimano, though, I'll just install the basic wired Cateye that I first bought and use it to keep track of time and mileage.
