Yeah - I see I'm in the minority on this, but I'm am absolutely riveted & in awe that they can talk seamlessly for hours on end and hold my attention. Yes they are repetitive - I've watched every stage of TDF since 2000 and have heard them call a few other races. Given the crappy coverage (Phil/Paul don't have control over) and ongoing technical problems with the video, I'm just amazed.

And yes - I'm from Maine & we have TV, but I must admit I've never heard of Cycling.Tv. We have these rabbit ear antennas on our TV's that work just fine IMHO - but they say there's this new invention called cable, is that there where I might get a looksy at some Cycling.Tv???

It's kind of hard to commentate a bike race. At least in a lot of other sports there is one person who will call the game while the other reminisces, or informs. In cycling both do the "informing". It does seem that Liggett and Sherwin get a lot of things wrong as they ramble on though.

As long as they stick to cycling, it's not horrible. When Phil was trying his hand at pointing out various aspects of American history during the Tour of California... Well, let's just say he has nothing on a 2nd grader.

I like Sherwan and Ligget but I kind of grew up listening to them. The only two things that drive me nuts is last year when ever the show started they were sitting so close together it looked like they were ready to make out and they feel the need to put Goerge Hincapi in the position to win every race.

Where I grew up Phil Liggett was pretty much it...we were just grateful to get the small amount of cycling we did.

Even with his "idiosyncrasies" he still beats the local "experts" we're still subjected to.

Bobcat was funny back in the 80's. The delivery was shrill and unique. Pair him up with a still living Sam Kinison. There's your Dynamic Duo.

And I keep telling myself that, but it still doesn't make it clever or funny. To me, it's like watching Nicholas Cage in another $#itty movie, or Lady Gaga, or Twilight, or every time some mouth-breather "intentionally" can't tell the difference between "there", "they're", and "their" in here--it's not funny, it's nails on a chalkboard.

I don't want to end up with Pcad and the rest of the cynics who strut around fancying themselves so brilliant by virtue of everyone else's imbecility, but come on.

I would have paid to watch them matched in a knife fight to the death, since, despite their being sluggish, unfit, and unskilled, they both hated each other vehemently; other than that, both are, and were, unwatchable.

And if you had to read the above sentence twice, then you have an inkling of an idea of why Paul & Phil stink on ice.

That's why they make vanilla and chocolate. Kinison still makes me laugh until whatever I'm drinking comes out of my nose. To stay OT, I don't watch enough cycling to have an opinion on commentators, save the TdF.

But then try watching the Yankees on National TV and see what you get. The commentators on YES are 100% better. But the best in the business around NY is still Walt Clyde Frazier.

I don't know about everyone else, but I watch most of my cycling on Universal Sports, it's an NBC channel. the commentators are Steve Schlanger and an ex-racer I never heard of before named Todd Gogulski. I would rather listen to these two than the boys on Versus. I actually learned stuff from the guys on Universal Sports, opposed to listening to Phil admire the Pacific Ocean during the Tour of California.

I find Phil and Paul soothing, like white noise at bedtime. That new idiot kid they have is so friggin annoying, he destroys the whole Liggett/Sherwin karma. How did that idiot ever get that job? Put me in there, I'll straighten that broadcast right out.
