Why can't people just put "per cookie" and per bag on a freaking label?
3 cookies is one "serving"

I just ate 1.5 lbs of homemade tri-tip, best I've ever had. I doubt I will be faster tomorrow, I'm actually going backwards tonight.

A friend turned me on to Oreo's at about 95 miles into a 120 mile ride once. I had bonked so we stopped, bought a pack along with a Bing energy drink and I was a new man. Now I carry Oreo's in my jersey instead of Figs. I just did a 7 day bike tour and instead of eating what they provided,( PB&J's, fruit etc...)most of which I never eat on rides, I stuck with Oreo's and finished strong every day. My buddy always drinks a Coke too, at some point on longish rides, swears by it.

Speaking as someone who lived with a person with diabetes, if you are low on blood sugar and need to avoid passing out or need lucidity asap, get orange juice in you as fast as possible. Then have an oreo for dessert.

Good tip. What are the top choices, besides orange juice?

Snickers and a can of Coke. Was my breakfast for 8 years and is still a worthy contender for "Pre-Ride Meal of Champions."

My mother got away with a crap diet for many years, but it all hit in her 50's when her glandular system began to break down. She had two choices: continue eating poorly, age quickly and die young, or begin eating soundly and live longer. She chose wisely.

Well it's more than the food's GI. OJ can get right into you. I've seen it have effect in an extremely short period of time. Pick a liquid with a really high GI and go from there. Grapefruit juice would be a second choice. Or pick something that can be digested quickly like a digestive cookie. Maybe spread a low GI food on it to balance it the spike with a later kick.
Really, whenever she got in trouble it was OJ, nothing else. Bam, within a very short time things were safe.

Heh, that was among my healthier meals... ah, the 20s, when I could put whatever I wanted into my system and still be lean and have a six pack. As opposed to now, when even looking at a chocolate brownie sundae makes my average speed go down.

As much as I do enjoy them, the new trim Pcad eschews Oreos. If you want to be disturbingly gaunt, there is a price to pay.

John Belushi: [ as he holds a lit cigarette ] I logged a lot of miles training for that day. And I downed a lot of doughnuts. Little Chocolate Donuts. They taste good, and they've got the sugar I need to get me going in the morning. That's why Little Chocolate Donuts have been on my training table since I was a kid.
