Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Looks OK to me, except maybe your arms are a little too locked - how does the reach feel when riding?

bend your elbows more it seems they are pretty straight predominately in the drops.

at the very end its hard to tell but seems your leg is too straight with the crank arm in line with the ST

does anything hurt?

Strange, although your legs don't look like they are too far extended, it seems your hips are rocking which would mean the saddle is abit high. At the end of the vide, looks a bit too extended but not sure as it's the end of the video adn not a a very good shot/view.

I think your arms are fine but your spin looks inconsistent and you are moving all over the bike. I'd say work on your form.

Agreed. His leg extension looked pretty normal to me (he's not pointing his toes a lot and his knee stays bent) but the hip rocking was pretty big. Could be a habit or a fit issue.

Also, you might as well wear a jersey when shooting these vids. The baggy shirt isn't a big problem, but it does hide your upper body movement. I assume that if you use zipp wheels you have a form fitting jersey.

Looks like you are in the ballpark, but please give us an idea of what type of riding you are doing and what your goals are.

If you are racing you probably want to bend your elbows more and consider lowering your stem.

If you are fitness/sport riding you can keep your bar where it is, but do try to bend your elbows a teeny bit more.

Looks totally fine to me. Your position is a good place to start, and tweaking will come.

Ride, and the body will adapt- plus the little things that really determine perfect fit are going to come up later.

Example- Perhaps on your first really steep hill bomb, you will find that your hands are fried from using the brakes with your weight bias rearwards (and your upper body layed way out) . You can then move your levers up/down or even get bars that allow a shorter reach etc. Just an example but you get the idea.

If you are new to cycling, some stuff is gonna hurt if you rack up the miles, I wouldn't go too bongos with getting the "fit" just yet. Riding in the drops might just have you wondering what kind of maniac would tool around in this awful position..................a month or two later, you are thanking the heavens that some cat invented the drop bar.

Anyway, looks just fine to me.

I have been riding about 400 a month and plan to be mid 500's this month.

I was professionally fit but recently flipped my stem flat. One concern was That I was reaching out too far with my torso. The fitter put a longer stem on the bike but it was flipped up. By flipping it down i wonder if it is now too long.

Was the bar flipped up more comfortable...yes....

I have done a TT and plan to do another this weekend. Next year my goal is to do some crit racing. I just want to be fully trained for that.

I will post another video tonight with the crank arms at 12 and 6 and then ride with my jersey on. I actually thought my seat could go higher but I don't know. I have another fitting with another guy in a couple weeks. I just would like to get it dialed in before going.

It's hard to tell from the side, but it looks to me like you're swinging your upper body to the left on every stroke. That might indicate a significant leg length discrepancy.

I do notice some rocking. I tried to show the where my legs extended down to on the pedals.....I do have some tighter jerseys/under armor shirts but this is what my wife threw down to me...If you saw this as a picture my form would be good? When the video runs I rock....so this is a technique issue?

IMO. I'd mark the start point and lower the seat 1/8 inch. Even at the start it seems that eventhough your leg isn't real straight, you still look like you are reaching and a rockin'!

I thought I had mine set after installing a new saddle (same model). Another rider mentioned my hips rocking. I lowered it and immediately felt a difference in output.

If you don't like it, you can always return then wait for the fitting............just my 2 sense.

definitely not.

Indy your reach looks fine just need to bend them elbows...which will put more strain on your core of course. I agree with Beanz saddle needs to come down at least 1/8 inch or more.

what is your inseam in CM a pretty good "base" is inseam -10cm mine is almost EXACTLY this it goes in hand with the Lemond formula of inseam x .883

again these are starting points but you are definitely rocking

I don't have video but have a thread where I went thru massive fit changes and finally found a good position just whatever you do PLEASE change one thing at a time and don't end up like me

thread if you are interested

ps I dig your bike.
