training advice?

training advice?

im new to road biking and would like to get really good, i have been riding every day, and realize there is no real rhyme or reason to the rides i a doing, they are just random 25 or so mile rides with some 14'ers in there, im 16, in hs crosscountry and track so im in good shape and can probably handle a good training regime, any advice or plan would be much appriciated

+1. First, you're young, don't be impatient. Spend some time just riding. Then you can add some structure. I assume you're familiar with structured training, including intervals and recovery days, from cc and track. The same basic principles apply to cycling with somewhat different application. Friel's book can help a lot with this. If you can hook up with some experienced riders who are knowledgeable and willing to mentor you, that would be a huge help. But be careful with this; if you hook up with the wrong guys who appear helpful, but just want to crush you with constant hammerfests, look elsewhere.

FWIW, this works for me and gets me out on the road far more than my usual commute.
