Which is what would be expected by market theory. Amazing how that works.

Less talk about numbers and stuff.

More talk about CAAD10.

Did it feel better than the 9? Great Crit bike, but what about other types of riding?

dennisa 07-22-10 11:56 AM

What group set was on it?? how did it compare to the 9 ??

mocolotion 07-22-10 12:02 PM

Right, you're all right. Thanks so much for the free lesson in ******ology.

Step away from the keyboard and take a deep breath. Not everyone has to agree with you.

Nick, do you have specs on the caad10, such as what colors come with what groups, multiple forks, different frame specs, etc

Nimitz87 07-22-10 12:11 PM

k take that **** to another thread please no one cares.

about the actual bike Nick what did you like about it from the caad9? more stable?

does cannnodale still do their frame "upgrade" policy?

if its feasible I may "upgrade" my 08' frame.

Chad

I heard the CAAD10 is made from a new kind of aluminum that is 100 times stronger than steel and 10 times lighter than carbon. The purchase of the bike will guarantee you an increase in your average speed of 4 mph.

All of that info might as well be true for all the praise the CAAD seems to get.

I heard from my LBS that it prints money too...

ninjanoir78 07-22-10 01:44 PM

anyway, the 2010 super six is better as quality than 2009 and 2008 super six, and the frame is made in Taiwan, so for quality no problem with Asia

I'm just saying that consumers in this case - and likely in most cases of oursourcing - would prefer to be able to purchase a product made in the United States. I'm also saying that there is ample demand for such products as to justify a price premium to compensate for the higher labor costs here in the United States, so the decision to oursource is purely one of greed on the part of Cannondale's ownership.

Cannondale could have maintained high-end domestic production for their top-of-the-line aluminum bikes, but they chose to outsource all development so as to maximize profits even if that means diminished satisfaction in the aggregate.

Folks talk a good game with the "Made in USA" ilk but when it comes down to spending their money 99% will take the cheaper offshore option.

karrar 07-22-10 01:48 PM

I was in the market for a Cannondale, but if they have decided to take the CAAD frames oversees i am not interested anymore. that was the big draw for me

SalsaPodio 07-22-10 01:54 PM

I just had a brilliant idea. Cannondale should make a BF version of the CAAD10 with a hole in the top tube so you can have sex with your bike after your rides.

racist.

Namenda 07-22-10 02:01 PM

I'm pretty certain all my bikes were made in China. They work just fine, and have no quality issues. I only buy Italian helmets, though. Am I racist?

okay the problem is 98% of bicycles are made in Asia.. dont forget the biggest companies (giant) is from Taiwan since 70's. Giant is not USA but ASIA... maybe you can buy some pinarello dogma in Italia or lapierre in France... I think trek madone 6.9 is still in the USA this year

umd 07-22-10 03:24 PM

Shill ;)

Btw, you were offline when I got back to my computer last night. I will be going up Gibraltar Sunday, but you have to suffer on the group ride first if you want to come with me :D

What do you think BB30 is for?

2ndGen 07-22-10 04:43 PM

Question:

How does the metal work compare to the C9?

In the pics I've seen of the C10, the welds don't look as clean as the C9's.
I like the look of the C10 and the tech seems like an appropriate evolution for the CAAD lineage.

I "didn't" wait for the C10.
I loved too much about the C9 to wait.
I love it's classic style (now gone).
I love that it was Handmade in America.
I love that it's undeniable a great bike.

I'm sure Cannondale has done their market research and if what your proposing was possiable it would be happening

also the majority of bikes are made in Asia and are still top notch... their not grabage or inferior to American made bikes

like others have said how many people would really buy the same bike with the frame made in the USA and pay say 500.00 more

Did I miss something? Is the CAAD10 frameset $500 cheaper than the CAAD9?

Nope.

Is it even $1 cheaper? Hell, it's probably more expensive.

-----------

The whole "people won't pay it" argument is crap. Products don't get cheaper when production is offshored. Quality changes, lead times change, but the price to the consumer for an "identical" product - nope.

Actually, they shipped production overseas for lower labor costs,
raised their prices and use lower grade components.

Annnddd...CAAD sales just kept going up and up and up while they were being produced here.
