Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Goathead thorns :(

I commute / ride with Michelin Krylion Carbons tires(700 X 23) .
I have around 800 miles on them.

In the last 2 weeks , I got 3 flats due to goathead thorns on the front tire.
Do I need to replace the front tire by any chance ?

Thanks all !

Probably not. Goatheads suck though.

In my experience goatheads can go through damn near anything.

I ride in the same area, same problem. If the hole in the tire isn't big enough for the tube to start popping through, you don't need to replace the tire (and from a goathead, it almost certainly isn't). If it makes you feel better, stick a little superglue in the hole. I don't know if it really helps, but in theory it will keep the hole from getting any bigger and keep other stuff like bits of glass from easily entering the hole and giving you another flat.

Last time i had Krylion Carbons on my bike the rear lasted > 2,500 miles. Your tires should have a lot more life left in them.

Yep. Here in Colorado, I think it's something we just have to accept as cyclists.

I got two flats in a week last week.

I have about 3500 miles on my Krylion Carbons, and I'm just starting to think about replacing them. The main issue is the rubber getting hard and cracking. Other than that, there is still rubber left. I only had one flat so far, and that was due to a thorn...

True dat. I am a firm believer in tire liners on my commuter.

I don't know why more people don't just use those plastic liners that go between the tube and the tire. Once you install a pair of these, you'll NEVER have a flat again. I don't even carry a spare tube or bike pump because I've never needed it.
