Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I do use them, but I'm slowly, gradually, learning to renounce Freddom so that I can be cool like the guys (and gals) on BF. First went the reflectors. Then the dork disk. Then the MTB seat bag. Then the platform pedals with clips. Then the triple. Then the cheap wheelset.

Sound familiar?

I might even lose the kickstand at some point.

I glue my valve covers to my nipples so my group ride knows I'm really excited to be there.

^ This is also the first thing I thought of...

on topic though, is there any real disadvantage to having them on there? Or is it just "cool" to not have them?

Nothing significant...just the inconvenience of taking them on and off.
