Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Well, I kinda redeemed myself on today's ride. 10 people started and 6 finished the complete ride. 5 hills [double digit grades] and 5,000ft of climbing in 45 miles [60 miles for the entire ride]. I was in the middle of the ascents and the front of the descents. They figured I was OK since I finished with them and I would be welcomed back. I am certain they do not feel the pain I feel right now. One more week with them next Sat, then I have a good excuse not to go with them for a while [I will hate working the next 8 Saturdays].

The facepalm is strong in this thread. But not the OP. Good job for going out there and giving it your best. Go back and keep trying to hang on longer and longer and you will improve. Those of you who deserve facepalms, you know who you are.

That's what I was thinking. I don't get warm and fuzzies about being dropped, but to each his own...

I don't mind getting dropped. I rather be on a ride that drops/almost drops me than a ride that doesn't even come close.
