bike fitting in the bay area
hey guys,
i'm deciding between getting a fit from curtis at revolutions in fitness and karl from silicon valley cycling center. can someone recommend either of them or tell me which would be better to go to?
I'm having problems with my knee in my current position, hence the fitting, so if anyone knows which of the 2 can sort out that problem the best, please let me know!
thanks

If you can't fit yourself, get help. Chiropractors are often viewed as people who couldn't get into med school. That's okay. If you can't get an A in Chem and Phys, it doesn't mean you can't help people to feel comfy on their bikes, if you set your mind to it.

I used Curtis two years ago and he did a great job re-fitting me to my road bike. What I like about his fitting approach is he takes the time to understand how flexible you are, and then adapts your position around that baseline. He also takes the time to see where and why you are out of alignment.
Most of the changes he made were minor (e.g., seat height, pedal float, stem length), but when you take all those adjustments into consideration, it was a significant change, that has paid off in a far more comfortable riding experience. He's a bit on the expensive side but worth it IMO.

There's this physical therapist in Fallbrook, selling these Kneesavers that take your foot out away from the crank. We really likes them. Leonard Zinn recs longer cranks for a lot of riders. That may be worth looking into.
Nobody says you can't go non-stock to make your bike fit you.

I had Karl do my fitting a few weeks ago. He's nice, friendly, and does a good job. I was happy with my fitting. From his email........
"Thanks again for your business, and don’t forget that follow-up consultations are free for 1 year should anything not feel just right after some time on the bike. And of course, I stand behind the service with a money back guarantee if you are not completely satisfied"
