I am confused by the word "Smuckers", is this where I post to discuss my quandary?

or "quite frankly"
Quite unfrankly, I bought my bike as a bike and turned it into a build. The only original items remaining are the frame and brakes... I guess it's a bike again now, but not the one I bought.

"Build" is a generic engineering term used to refer to an assembly of parts that can be assembled in different configurations. Software comes in builds. Cars and motorcycles come in builds. Circuit boards come in builds. It's a perfectly reasonable use of the word. Conversely, It would be ridiculous to call your Ikea furniture a build just because you built it. It's the design that matters, or rather, the assembly plan. Usually a build is simply the design itself, but it can be used for an instance of a build.

I would nominate any of PCADs comments about Cervelo as the most boring comment ever. Yours is more logical and on the surface without entertainment value, but I appreciate use of analogies.
"can't hardly"....that annoys me

It really rolls around funny in my head... smuckers, smuckers, doesn't seem to be a family oriented word for jam, good lord, "smuckers jam"... for years I stand in the super market giggling while I stare at the label.

Language changes (heh, "evolves") more rapidly now that ever.
Launguage is splintering into sublanguages (specialized jargon) faster than ever! ...while the mainstream "standard" penetrates the swamp, hills, and even the Beach, like, never before!
Language is a gift from God.
bike "build" - mix, arrangement, assembly, hmm... composition, conception
What exactly does it MEAN?
Not exactly a version, like software, as there's (well, should be) progression, like year models - systematic improvement, enhancements, bug fixes, etc.
Choose the pieces, put them together.
The list of synonyms above capture somes range of the possible angles of eyes to nose in relation to "build."
Sniff

Probably the main word that bugs me is that everything is a solution. If I want to buy a switch, I used to buy it from someone who sells switches, but now I buy it from someone who sells "Switching solutions." Oh yeah, and I'm still waiting for someone to tell me what an Interweb is. heh
I hate the name "Brifters" but I have to admit it's pretty descriptive.
In snowboarding we use bindings, but a couple people I know call them "Binders".
I hate it when people use a "z" at the end of words. "Urban Bike Solutionz" would be a great name for a shop.
I must have a mental problem, because this kind of stuff shouldn't bother a normal person. Seriously

That's called a gerund. It's not becoming more common these days ( think: sailing, cycling, kayaking ), and it has nothing to do with the internet or text messages. It's a feature of the English language.
