Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sorry guys/gals didn't mean to start a flame war on the internet. I was just excited to get the bike and at a price I was o.k. with.

Anyway, I love the bike and will go back to reading/learning and keep my mouth shut.

You didn't start a flame war...I'm still not certain how I did though.

Anyhow, you should be excited about that bike! I think you'll love it, and I hope REI gets you set up right.

Eventually I'll get a lighter fork. At 321gms there's some weight to be shed. The Souls will be ~ 80gms less. Could build a lighter set using Kinlin 200s or Stans Alphas, but the ride is so tight and precise as is stands, The 2.0s will just complement it.

Banzai,
Regardless of any extraneous and useless personal opinions from anyone, Thank You For Serving Our Country in your plastic viper You are a first rate guy and are protecting our freedoms and in the line of fire. My thanks for all you do. BTW, jets are for kids (said the old Marine Air Wing, wingwipe electronics maintainer)

I didn't want to do anything of the sort. It's a true statement, but obviously irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. that's why I put a smiley face after the comment - it was just a lightly humorous dig. If I really wanted to "bash" the CAAD10, believe me, it would have been clear and unambivalent.

My original question was a genuine request for comments about the 9 vs 10 comparison. I'm beginning to see them now. I'd hoped my 9 would be rated closer to the quality of the 10, but sadly, it seems that the 10 is quite a lot better than my 9. (But I do still have prettier welds!)

I test rode a new CAAD 8 5 yesterday thats on sale for 1099.00 but I have also test ridden a Fuji Roubaix 1.0 that is on sale for 999.00. The Fuji comes with an actual 105 cassette (the CAAD has a tiagra one), but the CAAD has a carbon seat post and maybe a slightly better stock saddle.

I am having trouble deciding between the two and couldn't think of a better place to get sold on the CAAD ....So sell me!

Right now the determining factor is that the Fuji is 100 bucks cheaper and I like the color better.

Hello All,

I'm sorta still new and about a month ago I got my 2013 CAAD10 5. I posted a picture of it a few pages back.
On my CAAD10 5, does anyone know what the #3 represent on the seat post pole? Please see attached picture. All the other CAAD10 5 I've seen has a #5 on it...

Probably just a sticker/decal error. My CAAD10 3 has that 3 sticker on it.

Yeah the same color is available in the 10-3 spec. Just a sticker error. I removed all my stickers anyways.

That is what I was thinking but wasn't sure if the #3 represented a CAAD10 3. Next question: Are both frames identical? or if they are different, could someone let me know the differences?

Thanks.,

Same frame from base model to the highest model. The ultimate just has the lightest non painted finish and reportedly weight sorted tubes. Overall they are the same frames.

What kind of brake calipers are those? And is that a KCNC seatpost?

The brakes are KCNC. The seatpost is one I got on eBay from China, $26 shipped, that I "tuned".

What did the seat post weigh? Also I see you have carbon rails on that post. Is that what needed tuning, the clamp on the seatpost?

Impressive. I was pretty pleased with the 16.5lbs (with cages and pedals and computer) that I got my CAAD9 to. (Easton EC90SL Fork, SRAM Red/Force mix groupset. Wheels are my own handbuilts on WI hubs.)

But...wow. Sub 14 lbs.
