Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

My CAAD9 is perfect.

In a test for Cycling Plus (from across the pond), one thing they noticed about the American
made CAADs is that it came out of the box perfect as well and they praised it's construction.

Not saying that there never were any defective CAAD9s...I've just haven't heard of any yet. I'm sure there have been.
The longer a model is in production, with a good company, the less defects it will have as time goes on.

The new kid on the block is going to need some time to get up to the 9's reputation. It's still an unproven platform.
I fully expect new models to have a few hiccups in the first few years of production as design catches up with "real world" usage conditions.

Agreed - I'm curious why such a large....err...."droop-off" section? Surely it doesn't need to be quite so...err....long?

The Ultegra SL looks sweet on your bike; congrats!

The saddle is interesting. Is it stiff as hell or does it have flex? What is your average ride length in the saddle?

I love the look of all CAADs. In my opinion, it is the one product line that has stood the test of time. I still see people riding CAAD3/4/5 in the KC area; we chat as they ask about my CAAD10 and I tell them it is great but to keep theirs until they "have" to upgrade.

Outside of custom made frames that start at close to $2,000., it's one of the last few "classics" with it's lines.
That is precisely why I set my sights on a CAAD9.

checked the cannondale site, geometry is identical. Thats more what my question was directed at. i know the tube shapes are a little different between the two.

I was pondering trading up my CAAD8 for a CAAD10 recently, but decided to just do a few component upgrades and get rid of the horrible triple drivetrain that came with the bike. Went to a compact SRAM/FSA setup from Ultegra 6600 today and couldn't be happier:

Are the stock rims and spokes on a 2011 cadd 10.5 really weak ? I am at 194 lbs and may have found a good deal on one .

I've read that they are. But look at it this way...they're no weaker than most others at that price point, and wheels are usually the second thing changed out (seats being the first). If you're getting a good deal, go for it; they're not going to self-destruct underneath you.

Mine is a tank right now...18.5lbs with OEM 2250g wheels.
Within 7 days, I'll have her down to 17.78 lbs with post/brake/lite tubes.

Wheelset/Fork swap will bring her down to 15.38 lbs.

Here is my 2009 CAAD 9/7 with full Ultegra and 295g TIME-made Slice Carbon fork. Going full Dura-Ace 7800 next week. Should weigh-out in the high 15s(currently 16.2lbs, as shown):

Love it. At first, one might think it's just another Shimano group that costs more and
weighs less, but it's when the riding gets aggressive that you notice the difference.

Once it's dialed in and tuned right after the cables stretch, it's almost intuitive.

You're going to love it.
