Isn't Campag coming out with a BB30 compatible bottom bracket for their cranksets? I seem to remember some discussion a while back about this. Maybe its just my oldtimers disease kicking in on me in the early morning.
Bill My dilemma re the BB was solved by what I hope was a good find on eBay. I've been eyeing the SL-K cranksets, but they've been way too much money. So I think I've found one that will work nicely. I'm hoping. Found several forum threads here and elsewhere that helped me feel comfortable with the buy. Everything else will be Campy Athena 11spd. Now I hope that my wife enjoys riding the bike as much as I'm enjoying working on the build. |
Campagnolo has introduced a BB30/PF30 compatible setup; it's product name is Over-Torque.

Well.....went out for the first time on my caad10 today. No computer yet so I was pretty much juts paying attention to the bike (and not speed/distance).
I think 3 words explain what I just experienced...."sheer ignorant bliss" |
Umm, drop the ignorant part and just say sheer bliss, you were smart enough to buy a CAAD so---------:thumb:
Thanks for the info on Campag's BB30, everyone, I thought I had read somewhere that they had come out with a BB30 set up. I know there are a lot of supposed facts thrown around about BB30 by people but mine has been trouble free for me. It has over 4500 miles so far, I pulled it back around 2900 miles and did a thorough cleaning and greased everything with a high quality waterproof grease (Bel Ray waterproof blue) as a new years maintenance measure. It looked good and the bearings are tight in the frame and they roll smoothly, also. Hopefully I am good to go with this set up, not planning to spend on a new BB or crank anytime soon, I like the SRAM S500 compact. Keep on CAAD'in, my friends. Bill |

I'm looking at getting my first caad. It's 2011 caad 10 4 that looks very clean. The seller is looking for 1250$ with an upgraded saddle and tires. Any thoughts? Thanks

Take a look here for approximate value, but seems a little high if it's just upgraded tires and saddle. http://www.bicyclebluebook.com/Searc...0420&year=2011 |

If you like SRAM, I'd say it isn't a terrible price. I might try to talk them down a bit. You could get a new one with Shimano 105 for about $250 more + tax, maybe less if you can talk your bike shop down or if you wait for next years models to come out. One thing I would like to say about the 2011, I'd look it over carefully. A 2011 is old enough that it could have hundreds of thousands of miles, or just a few hundred, just pending on how much the owner rode. For example, my 2012 3 has about 700 miles with how often I can ride. Others have 10,000+ miles on their 2012 3s. Just make sure you won't have to turn around and buy a new chain/cassette/cables if they are all pretty worn down. |

Upgraded tires (not wheels, correct?) might be worth a bit more. Upgraded saddle doesn't add much value unless it is a carbon fiber rail saddle, which is typically more expensive. In the event the new, upgraded saddle fits you better than the stock saddle, then it could be worth a bit more to you. I wouldn't pay much extra for a bike if it had an upgraded saddle unless it was a Specialized Pro Toupe/Romin EVO 143 (or S-Works, or Fizik Carbon Fiber rail so I could resale it).

I've been thinking about buying a CAAD frame and fitting it with SRAM red. Anyone have this set up?

If you did go the used route, you could set aside $100 that would've been spent on the new bike for replacement chain/cassette when they were out (even though they still have life left). Is this your first road bike? If so, I'd heavily consider new if your LBS offers free fitting/sizing and tune-ups. Yeah, tune-ups are not difficult to do, but it was nice being able to take my bike in for a free tune-up for the first year. I could play around with tuning it up on my own and then take it in to have them fix anything if I tuned it wrong, haha. Then again, is the free tune-up(s) and sizing worth $400? A proper fitting can provide some huge benefits in both comfort and performance (which is something I need to have done). |
Even $1100 is too expensive for a 2011, 10 4, tires and saddle are things you would probably change out anyway to suit your personally. There are several CAAD 10 complete bicycles and frames on eBay what beat that price. The CAAD 10 is a "Cult" bike in almost every sense (forgive me for that one, please!!!) and they tend to be inflated on CL and such. If he will bargain with you below say 900 and it is in very good condition and it fits you correctly then you might think about it, but that is just one old man's opinion, YMMV. Best of luck in your search.

I agree with bill, that price is high, is he selling it as pictured? If so the Garmin adds some value so $1100 may not be horrible, but still not great.

I have the ultra torque with press in adapters on my CAAD10, no issues at all. |

While I think 1250 is a bit much 1100 seems to be reasonable. Thanks again for the input. |

The campag over torque set up is a con. It's not really bb30 dedicated as you still need press in frame adapters. There is no benefit over the usual ultra or power torque with bb30 adapter cups.

Here is some info on stock weight. I was looking into the weight of different CAAD 10 versions before buying but did not find much on stock weight so I bought a digital scale and removed the pedals and cage off my new, never ridden CAAD. Here is the info to help others.
2013 CAAD 10 4 Rival black/white 54cm stock from the LBS with the dork disk, no reflectors weighed in at 8.09KG or 17.83Lb. Heavier then I was expecting. http://www.cannondale.com/can/2013/b...ouble-crankset Does anybody have this info on other CAAD 10 stock versions like the 105, Ultegra, Force? |

Well folks, after a good few months of driving my wife crazy browsing websites and gradually wearing down her resistance / building up support for a new bike, I picked this up the day after Christmas:
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=365747 There didn't seem to be much love for the red/white/blue 2014 CAAD10 3 Ultegra but after seeing it in the flesh in the shop, I knew it right away. (I also love the current baby blue CAAD8 105 and SuperSix Ultegra paint scheme). My winter bike is already matt black... It's great. Ultegra 6800 feels like a world apart from Tiagra 4600 on my first road bike. Looking forward to taking it to the Alps and Pyrenees for la Marmotte and l'Etape du Tour later in the year. |

Please explain. As I read the chart on Page 1, Part 2, Technical Specifications/Compatibility, the BB30/42 setup is exactly the same as "true" BB30. Am I missing something?
http://www.campagnolo.com/repository...ev01_07_13.pdf I thought the whole point of BB 30 was that the bearings were pressed into the bottom bracket shell of the frame - if it need adapter cups them its not really in the spirit of the BB30 'standard' is it? So really what is the point of claiming to have a BB30 compatible chain set if it will only work by removing the BB30 bearings from the frame and fitting some additional cups to accept the so called BB30 Campag chainset? See what I mean? |
Clean after 50mi in rain

After 50mi in the rain, wasn't plan but we got caught in the rain. It wasn't poring down hard but rain long enough to make things real messy. How ever the bike handle really well in the the rain, the CONTI 4000s had a lot of grip on the wet surface and the DI2 continue to shift really well in the wet conditions. Very impressive it didn't miss a beat, this bike was put to the test on saturday group ride. i am very pleased with this bike so far its a beast of a bike. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=365815http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=365816http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=365817http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=365818

I just got back from a ride and during a pretty steep climb I heard what sounded like a ratcheting sound coming from my crank. I couldn't really mess with the gearing at that time but I figured it was just the chain rubbing from all the grim on the road since I was in my granny gear. After I finished the climb I ran through the gears and I could hear it in every gear combination. I went straight home and now with it in the rack I can hear a distinct ratchet noise even during back pedaling. I have a 2014 10-3 with about 650 miles on it. The bike shop is closed today and tomorrow, does anyone have any idea what this could be? If you need more details please feel free to ask.

Ok, I bought a CAAD with BB30 - FSA Chainset fitted. I had a Campag groupset that I wanted to fit to the CAAD 10. The Chainset was an Ultra Torque version so could only be used with the adapter cups that would have to be pressed into the frame. I didn't want to do this as I wanted to retain the BB30 press fit bearing that were in the bottom bracket shell of the frame. I enquired at my LBS and they said there was a new BB30 compatible 'over torque' Campag chainset available. I ordered it and when it came I set about fitting it, only to find that I would still need to remove the BB30 bearings in the frame and install some press fit cups into the frame to accept the bearings that were attached to the Campag chain-set.
