Just finished building up an xs800 headshok from 2000. Its in gravel/road setup at the moment.
Its hella fun to ride! The lockout on the shock really makes the bike for me.

CX1 crank
Wolftooth 40t
Sram X9 + 11-36 cassette
Superstar Pave 28 wheelset (23mm outer)
panaracer gravelking 28mm

They're asking $1,000 which isn't bad for what you get. This was a bike they had on the floor for sale but ended up selling the Ultega Wheels and Ultegra Di2 off of it so it has been assembled but never ridden, I saw it Thursday when I went to get some new tires. Just thought I'd throw it up on here in case anyone was interested? If so PM me and I'll get you their info.

This frame is a Di2 Specific frameset

I've seen several of those frames sell on eBay for around $500 recently.

First time posting. Bit of a classic. Picked up the frame for $100:

Caad4 R600 Frame
SRAM Force Levers
SRAM Rival Rear Derailleur
Forte Front Derailleur
Shimano RS10 Wheels
Ultegra 6650 Crankset (or whatever crankset isn't being used to test prototype power-meters at work)

How do you like the gravelkings so far?

aBlom - that looks like fun!

I have a general question regarding Cad2 frames. How do they ride, comfort wise and stiffness? I may have a chance to pick up a 90s R300 cad2 bike for a song, and was thinking of making it into a semi-commuter town bike (already have an old steel Panasonic fixie for this, but it has it's own weaknesses). Will it rattle the crap out of me on normal 25c tires? I'd keep most of the stuff original to not sink any money into it.
I guess, I'm just trying to find a reason to get another Cannondale (have a Caad10, a Slice, and building up a SystemSix frame).

I just picked up a used 2012 105 caad10. I've been contemplating changing brakes. Have any of you swapped to 105 or ultegra brakes and really noticed a difference?

dsheldo 03-07-15 06:09 AM

I swapped to 105s because I got them for almost nothing and I like the look. Can't really tell any difference in performance, though.

I can't speak specifically to the Cad2 but I did have a 3.0 which I think is 2 or 3 iterations before Cad2. The 3.0 was very stiff and hard riding. I only used 23 mm or smaller tires at the time. It is my understanding that until Cannondale went to the hour glass seat stays, all of the frames were very hard riding. I am riding a CAAD 5 now and the difference is huge. But, I enjoyed my 3.0 and with 25mm or larger tires I think it would work for you as long as you are not looking to do long fast rides.

Funny, that tells me my calculations for stock weight weren't that far off. I've trimmed about 3/4 of a pound of of mine by replacing bars, stem, post & saddle with Zipp stuff.

How much did that cost? $300-500 wheels can trim about a pound off compared to stock rs10 or rs11

I'm in about $200 between bars, stem, seatpost and saddle by being frugal and buying some parts used.

Probably be lighter without those stock reflectors too...
