Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Well, I see we have a new CAAD8 on the market. It looks as if they relaxed the frame some. Also now we have 8's out there that have no Made In USA on them any more.
I guess because I am a purist I don't like when people do that. Call it something other than a CAAD8. Will be interesting to hear some real world reviews on it. From what I see it's going to be priced as an entry bike and not a race bike.

Its very simple why the CAAD8 was brought back. Cannondale needed and entry point road bike...instead of dragging the CAAD9 down to that point. The CAAD is already a familiar name. Just how Volkswagen brought back the Rabbit and Scirocco names.

I bought my girlfriend one when it came out two years ago. For a recreational or a beginner cyclist its an excellent bike. The Tiagra/Sora group it comes with has been spot on since day one.

I agree Spookeay, it should've been called something else. The latest 8 is a different creature and the original is a classic within that USA line and maybe should've been left as such.

I<3Robots likes the bike though and indeed 220 triathlon magazine said it was "solid on both the flat and on descents; comfy over bumpy terrain; quality build" and gave it 80%.

Like your 8 especially custom colour scheme

Just had a very interesting afternoon Caadicts. For the first time, in the flesh, I viewed the Supersix Evo, what a beauty. Weighing in at 14lbs, (Sram Red), I was able to lift the whole bike with my little finger. However unfortunately at 4 grand, its a bit outta my league..... I'll keep dreaming....

Also, its such a nightmare for us tall chaps. Looking to get a new bike for next season and the next delivery of Cannondales to the UK for eg. will contain 2 63cm Caad 10's. I had the same problem at start 2011 season.

The cycling world isn't geared to us, if your Mr average your sorted......

That Evo Red is like a carbon version of my BBQ CAAD9. There's a 54cm at my LBS.
I won't take it for a test ride because I'm afraid I'll spend the next few months
dreaming about it and depriving myself of necessities just to be able to buy it.

Lol, exactly, I've got those kind of thoughts swirling around at the moment... how far I can stretch my options. Bit dangerous.

That Evo had pride of place at the store. So it should.

Sweet bike, almost as light as my Caad7.

I'm going back tomorrow.

I'll snatch a picture of it with my CAAD9 next to it just to set the conditions that might lead me to buying it. I've said it before, a dream of mine is to have both (like copies of each other; one in plastic, the other in metal).

Lol, I took 2 pics of it on my phone whilst I was there.... (filthy bike porn)!!!! They've got quality bikes at this place such as a BBQ Cervelo frame and fork for 7 grand etc etc but the Evo took pride of place. The assistant and I were both drooling over it

I asked the LBS if they'd let me take the EVO Red as a loaner
for a couple of days while they worked on my CAAD9.

They responded, "Nice try."

Can we please stop calling other matte black bikes "BBQ?" Just say matte black since that's what it is.

Oh, that's what a "BBQ" bike is? I agree, sounds pretty stupid.

I'm kind of wishing I had waited on making the purchase of my CAAD 10 because I could have saved $250 on another same bike except for the color...oh well
